if it only a slight abrasion or cut then apply an antibiotic ointment and keep him from licking or chewing the wound for a few days until it heals. if the wound looks deep enough to need stitches then take the pup to the vet

You can take him to a vet. I don't know what the cut looks like but dogs tend to lick themselves where they are cut and that keeps the cut from healing. The vet will check out the cut, dress it and then put a cone on the dog's neck to keep her from licking herself until it heals. That's my guess. Only a real trip to the vet will tell.

there's a great product on the market for pets, it was originally made for people but vets found that it works great for pet first aid. i cant think of exactly what the name is for pets, but if you go to the local pet store and ask for liquid bandage they'll point you to the right item. its a liquid that comes in a spray bottle and it acts as an antiseptic and then forms a liquid seal over the cut to keep out germs, just like a band-aid...good luck

Well.. What is the cut like ? Does it look like it's healing up? I would probably just leave it if it looks like it's starting to heal.. If it's a huge gash, then see the vet.. If it's just a cut, leave it and keep an eye on it.. You don't want to start fussing with it too much, cause it's better not to bring his attention to it too much and have him bugging with it..
Clean with isopropyl alcohol rather than peroxide.. Peroxide kills germs but doesn't promote healing. Alcohol cleans and promotes healing.

if it is a small cut , it should heal OK just keep it clean, if it is a open wound it might need stitching/antibiotics,,,if in doubt take your dog to a vet.
