I just got married, and I think my dog is in love with my new husband. When he comes home, she runs to the car, jumps in and jumps on his lap and kisses him. I have to pull her away to get my kiss, and then she cries!
She is so happy when he comes home that it takes at least 30 min. for her to settle down.
She is constantly at his side, and has her spot on the sofa next to him. When I get close, she kicks at me so she can wiggle between us. When he goes to the bathroom, she waits outside the door.
She sleeps on his pillow, and then between us in the middle of the night. In the morning, she jumps on her hind legs ( like a pogo stick) and crys if he does not kiss her goodbye like he does me.
When he kisses me in the morning in bed, she growls at us and pushes her way between us. I have to hold her twisting and wiggling little body when he leaves, or else she will run out the door.

I have never seen her behave like this! Is this normal?

It's going to become a large problem in your marraige, obviously, if you don't start setting boundaries. She may "love" your husband, but you're not going to be able to love him as well if she keeps this behavior up. When you start setting boudnaries, the first step I would take would be making her sleep off of your bed. Crate her. No matter how much she whines/barks/cries, do not take her out. She needs to understand he's yours. Second, Don't let her on the couch if that's a problem as well. Stand up and make her back up using your body. Sit back down and then get back up if she continues to try and get on the couch, but both of you need to do it. He needs to work on it as well, since she wants HIM. He cannot give her as much attention as he has (if he's giving a lot). Your problems should clear up as soon as you start treating her like a dog and not spoiling.

your chihuahua is overcome with affection (i have 4 chihuahua's)so i know exactly what you mean, lol, obviously she senses your husband is a very gentle man,as chihuahuas don't just bond to anyone, they're a very protective, territorial dog,it may seem cute now,but what about in the future, what if you have a baby one day? the chihuahua won't understand if it gets pushed aside for a child, perhaps you may think of getting her a play mate,i think she would really like this.

She's not 'in love'...animals don't experience human emotion like that. It's likely that she feels bonded with him and is vying for his attention. She is exercising her dominance in this situation. It's innapropriate to allow her to growl at you when there is contact between you and your husband. I suggest you begin to discipline and correct these behaviors, or they will just get worse.

thats what my dog does to me, I can't even go to the bathroom without her waiting, and whining by the door. And when I go upstairs she sits by the steps and waits for up to serveral hours, I don't know I never make her wait to long :)

Evertime I go outside she follows me super cute! :)

my husky and border collie are both like this with me. if my grandkids sit next to me they both squeeze in between and try to push them away, also if i go to bed before my hubby they come too then growl and bark at him to make sure he stays on his own side.they do become attached to one person and they make a point of proving it. she sure has taken with your hubby so just try to play with her and show her lots of affection too.some times they will just love one person and put up with another don't be discouraged she loves you too just in a different way.at least she is small, try moving a 96lb husky off your lap.lol best of luck.

That's so lovely, I'm sure you are glad you don't have an Irish Wolfhound.
Good Lord!!! This is not about "love" it's about dog exercising her DOMINANCE which she feels is threatened.
