Pepper likes to be left alone and Daisy's too stupid to do it.
Both are spayed. Pepper is clearly more dominant so we've always tried to make sure she goes for walks first, gets treats first, etc. They're nearly impossible to break up when fighting.
Keeping them separated forever isn't exactly a solution, so what can I do? Any meds out there that might keep them calm?

They've left each other alone for 3 months so they weren't being separated anymore. I wasn't just being irresponsible.
The doorbell rang and they wanted to run to the door to see who it was, somehow that started the most recent fight. It's always stupid things.

Hey sweetie, I had to Unfortunately give up one of my dogs recently because of the dominance factor. And they were both neutered and got along well for a few years, then all H*** broke out.I hope U can find a solution.I was lucky enough to find a retired trainer to take my fur baby.Because it was to the point that my Vet wanted to put him down. Please read all answers carefully here, because many of these ppl have helped me.I still cry on a daily basis.I miss my Lil man.But I couldn't take the chance of him biting and fighting anymore. And This man from the bottom of his heart agreed to take him and try to retrain him.trying to break up the fights caused me to be bit on many occasions and It wasn't fair to either of them to be crated constantly.Good Luck.

I had 2 female mixed breed huskies. Never did I let one be the boss, never did I take one without the other for a walk or anything else. One went to the vet, the other went to. Treat time was made to sit stay and both of them got a treat at the same time. No favorites just because one is bolder. Should you give the bolder one more power they will begin to think they are ruler. not so, you must make them understand you are the boss not them. they make big nasty noise and fight you make bigger noise and send them to time out at the same time, force it if you must at the same time keeping them 4 to 5 feet apart but staying there making your point. Should one keep it up, place them in a room by them selves for a minute or so, this lets them know the behaviour is not tollerated and the one will figure it out...
Doing things like walks, treats , feeding at the same time lets them know they are equal and you hold the gold.
When mine did fight and as you say are impossible to break up I tell ya, my noise got massive and very loud. To the point of shocking. Gets their attention and then you take over. and just because they at that point listen (?) do not give them treats, you are only enableing them to repeat.
It is hard especailly now that they are used to different treatment. Good luck, but if my little self could control huskies at a combined weight of close to 200 lbs, you can to.
Never had to raise my hand to either of them, no mean required. Firm and no fear do you show them, no hesitation in your command or voice.

All the obedience training in the world may not help these dogs get along. Some just never do and have to have a lifetime of separation.

You need to get in with both dogs to a good animal behaviorist, and you need to have both dogs trained well in obedience.

I am sorry but this is what you get when you put two dogs of the same sex together . I would never do this . and most dog therapists reccomend never getting dogs of the same sex in the same house hold . I would consult your vet about what you can do . good luck .
