I was out Picking up my dogs "business" and I noticed some maggots, or lil things moving around inside it. I know since it's waste those things can get into it anytime, but I was wondering, is it possible for my dog to have these before they were excreted out of his body?

Should I take my dog to a Vet?

I just got a Weiner Dog from my brother who kept food out all day for the dog. I know this is not proper feeding for a dog. Can anyone tell me the correct feeding schedule? The dog is a male, 1 year old, about 10 lbs.

Even 20 years ago it was acceptable to treat your dogs bits of chocs....and in those days it wasnt just the "essence and flavour of rich dark chocolate" it was real thing.
Unless your dog devours a pound of good chocolate, he is usually safe.
It's great to be concern about your dog, but this is hysteria.

I have owned my miniature schnauzer since he was 10 weeks old. I purchased him from a reputable breeder. He has been a wonderful dog, loyal, funny and a great companion to myself and my live-in boyfriend. Recently, within the last two weeks my dog has lashed out at two separate individuals who he has met previously. He has barked aggressively at both of the, and jumped and tried to snap at the directly in the face. His enviornment and exercize routine have not changed. The only thing I can think of that has changed is that I am 8 months pregnant? But this is a brand new behavior. And these outbursts were at one male and one female, both of which were paying him no attention at the time, simply sitting on the couch having conversation. I wasnt even in the room, but in the next room over which leads me to think the pregnancy might not be the cause of his strange behavior. I am not becoming really concerned, as the baby will be here shortly...however i adore this dog. Help!

The other dogs are Lacey, Logger & Bullet and are 3 all much bigger than her. They are all about 80 lbs or more.

She is currently 35 lbs but I think she's not quite grown yet. (She just showed up a few days ago)

She looks like a border collie mix. But she's solid black.

She loves licking you & is very sweet. She's hyper but not too hyper (I think she will out grow her hyperness.) And she seems to be very smart.

We are going to try to find a home for her, but we want to call her something other than "little dog" in the meantime. And we may not find a home for her. We certainly aren't going to be dumping her off anywhere! The only reason we are considering giving her away is that 4 dogs is just too much for one house!

Ok now I'm confused. Every one has said something different about food. My vet recommends science diet. My friend who's a dog breeder recommends Iams. The woman I adopted my cat from said Iams tests on animals so get purina. What's the best dry dog and cat food? I want to give them the best and I don't think I'm doing that right now..Dog is eating Iams puppy, and cat is eating purina pro plan (it had higher nutrients than science diet did..) Thank you in advance.

My dog has a swollen face. Well... by one of his jaws. He is a Siberian Husky. And is 7-8 months old. We think that he swallowed something sharp and it punctured his mouth or throat. And then the blood clotted. My dauther is REALLY worried because he might have to get surgery. (She is a worry wart.) The vet appt. is for tomorrow, and that is the soonest we could get him in. Do you think this is too late, what do you think? Serious answers only PLEASE!
Thank you in advance!

My border collie mix runs like deer when she chases deer or rabbits. I know a pure border collie does not run like that. So what other breed does she have?

My dog is 14 years old. He is a golden retriever. He has a lump on his chest and the vet thinks it has gotten into his lungs. He had troubles breathing and can't walk far distances. Just today he can't seem to get comfortable and sleep. I know he will have to put him down soon but he still eats and drinks and gets up and down by himself. I've had him my whole life and love him tons. He loves my mom more than anything and follows her everywhere. I just don't want to put him down and have him feel like we are leaving him because he acts so happy all the time. Should we put him down now or wait longer? p.s. he is already on a lot of medication for arthiritis, etc...

I dislike all low-quality pet foods, but since I'm young my mother refuses to feed our dog anything other than Beneful or Purina. Right now, shes on Beneful.
First I'd like to ask on which one is better, even though they both aren't great. I'm well aware of all the junk that goes into pet foods and am appaled by it; but, it /is/ my mother's money we're using.

Anyway... to try and give our dog some nutrients, I've began to cook her food. I cook half an egg with 1 cup of dog food and add in some lightly steamed carrots. In the morning after her walks, she gets 1/2 a cup; and at dinner, gets the other 1/2 cup. Is this okay? Will it do anything to her health? Any benefits from it?

I'm also wondering if 1 cup a day is good for a 20 pound Cockapoo female. Thank you very much!

I was just watching a movie adn my dog was sitting next to me and I was rubbing her stomach and I kept my hand in one place and I felt a puppy kick and I turned the light on and I was looking at her stomach adn I saw 2 puppies kick, does this mean she is close to whelping?
We called our regular vet and she said she could have her puppies tonight, but shes not nesting she has only eaten cottage cheese adn that was 4 hours ago, she wont eat or drink now!
So do you think she is going to give birth really late to night into early morning?

I have a 10lb maltese. He'll be a year old in August and he's absolutely out of control. I've tried everything I can think of and everything I've found by doing research online. There are no dog trainers in my area, the closest one is petsmart and it is over 2 hours away. He chews up my things while I'm away (dvd cases, trash from the trash can, books, etc.). I've had to resort to putting everything in his reach behind a closed door or just out of his reach. He won't walk on a leash. I've tried every technique I can find. He jumps all over company and won't stay in a room with the door shut or on a leash tied to something because he whines so loud I have to shout to talk. I'm out of ideas as to what to do. When we try to walk him he pulls so hard against the leash that he chokes himself. I don't want to have to pack up everything before I leave the house in fear that I'll come home to my things destroyed. Does anyone know anything I can try that may help this problem?

While picking up several poop piles, I noticed for the first time that one pile had squirmy worms in it. I have seen worms in my cats and these were different: bigger, ridged, and wiggly. How do I know if these are just CSI Grissom's decomp worms or if my dog is sick? I do give her Heartguard.
