Its not unlike dogs to welp at night! They like to do it at the most unconvieneint hours for us humans! So we don't get any sleep the night before work! But still that's the price we pay for having puppies!
Feeling the pups does mean she close. How close is up to her!... I've had dogs that have had pups a few hours after I felt them for the first time and other is a few days.
She will be seeking out a place to nest. I hope you have her one. So she can go there when her body tells her it's time. She may seem a little anxious or restless! And as you mentioned may not eat or drink. be sure to keep an eye on her... The rest of today and into the night. Because you def. want/HAVE to be there when she gives birth. To make sure everything goes smoothly!
Listen to your vet! Because mostly likely none of us on YA are!!!!
I've tried to answer your question to the best of my abilities with my schooling, knowledge and experience.
Good Luck
(Oh Yes... and i forgot to mention that her temp will drop! Take her temp... it should be around 97-98! 24hrs before welping!)

When they don't want food, it's usually real soon. Give her privacy, but don't let her go too long in labor. I don't know what kind of dog you have but some of the smaller ones need help from a vet delivering their puppies. Sometimes a puppy can be coming backwards so a parent may need to massage the lining of her vagina to thin it and help in the delivery.

Mabey so. Help her nest because I'm guessing it's her first litter. Use blankets to make a nest. I'm glaad that you called the vet and asked first. These people on yahoo answers can say whatever they want to just to get 2 points and you can't know if it's the truth.
Good Luck

You never know becuase it cant always be correct on the due date.
Someitmes people say they will have it today but like 1 week passes and that WHEN they have the baby..
Just always watch your dog. Becuase if it does it on it's own you never know becuse it may need your help.
You have 1 hour at leats to take it to the vet if it does not come out successfully. Becuase it takes a wile for another baby to comeout--- usually.
Bye!!

They move around a lot the last week of pregnancy. They may come tonight or it could still be a few days. Have you taken her temp? When it drops below 99, labor will start within 12-24 hr.

if she's not panting or becoming more restless, then you still have a while to go because the uterine contractions haven't started yet, and once they do, it can take anywhere from 6 to 24 hours for her to be fully ready to whelp.

our dog had 8 puppies and when we were petting her her puppies kicked so we just put her in the bathroom on her little bed but we put a blanket over the bed, then we would check on her every 10 min.
