Hi, i have a 10 year old male pomeranian that i is not neutered. When ever he is around my mother's 10 year old female pomeranian who is spayed all he wants to do is sniff her. He does nothing else to her but sniff. Some people say he is trying to "mate" with her but he doesnt do this with any other dogs. He doesn't ride anything. Also after she left an area she was laying he would go over and sniff there area and something even pee there. Some times it does get bad to the point where he just wants to sniff her and she gets aggressive. But he just doesn't care. This past weekend when they were together all he did from friday - sunday night was bark at her. He didn't even sleep ( which left me 2 hours of sleep) he barked so much that his voice is hoarsed.I just don't know whats wrong. If all he wants is to "mate", but if theres something more wrong im getting worried. The female has alot of allergies and on some medications. He was with another female on sunday and ignored her. Any ieas

We have a stray cat we feed, however when ever she comes in the yard, our dog barks at her! Not in a threatening way but shes a large dog (lab mix) she just wants to be friends with the cat. Though bounds after her to great the cat! Tail wagging happily the whole time so I know she isn't trying to chase the cat off. How can I get my dog to calm down?

Please do not answer and advise me to use Advantage or advantick or any such drops on her neck. I have a German Shepherd, 8 years, and she has constant worms. The deworming medicine (oral) my Vet gives doesn't work. (Strongid-t). because of reinfestation with fleas. We try to keep the fleas under control (it is quite a battle), and she does not get a lot of exposure to other animal feces, but somehow she is reinfecting herself. Maybe weakened immunity.

What do you think of diatomaceus earth, or claendula flowers or wild chrysanthemum flowers added to her food? Tr
I feed her a diet of various raw and poached meats and grated carrots and sometimes beets and and and flax seeds (pulverized) and Dolomite, and vit B's and fish oils and MSM.
But still worms. I tried garlic-no luck.

Battling the fleas is very time consuming. I recently discovered that liquid Ivory soap baths kills them dead, but I have to shampoo her every week, because she picks them up when I walk her in Miami

I have Nia (a pit bull that I've had since she was born) and now I have a puppy that someone abandoned (he's also a pit bull). Nia is 1 year and 6 months and the puppy is about 6 months. Nia is being really mean and keeps wanting to fight with the other dog. I haven't raised her that way she's just really angry that we're keeping the dog. I want to evenually bred the two dogs but I need them to get along. The puppy loves Nia but she won't let him near her! HELP!

We've increased how often we walk him and are spending more time playing with hime. He's 6 yrs old and we adopted him 1 yr ago. He started doing this about 3 months ago. We've started putting the garbage in a room he can't get into, but then he just finds something else to get in to. We've even hired the teenager next door to take him and our other dog out around lunch time.

Yet they will give a person second chances or don't think twice about abandoning their children. What is that? Please explain.

I have 2 dogs. One since she was a puppy (Coco) and the other I we got from an Animal Rescue when she was about 2 years old (Pepper). Pepper wasn't very well trained in manners. Although I've taught her many since we've had her, she still is very "mouthy". She'll grab food from the counter or anything that drops on the floor and run off and won't drop it when I tell her to. (She knows DROP as she does it with toys) And when I train her with treats she bites my fingers when I'm giving them to her. I tell her EASY and sometimes this works but most of the time she isn't easy. When I feed both dogs, Pepper inhales her food in seconds, whereas Coco takes a minute or so to finish. Pepper acts like she's starved or something when it comes to food and it's very frustrating because I know she's getting enough food and she is healthy as far as the vets are concerned. I just don't know how to break her of this.
Has anyone experienced this and resolved it???

I recently bought a pup. I am thinking of getting a pet insurance for her as I am afraid of the large expenses for vet (since she is from pet store). But the information from the web is quite confusing and I am not sure how and which to choose. Does anyone have pet insurance and is very satisfied with the service? Or any to recommend?
Thanks so much!

My dog, Yuki, is a female rough tri collie who is one year old.
In May, she was running around in the backyard and she hurt her back right leg somehow. No one had actually seen the incident occur.
Later on that day, Yuki began to act strangely. She would jump up on things and put her front paws up on the dryer or kitchen counter. We learned later that she was doing this to lessen the pain on her leg.
For two months, Yuki limped. We couldn't take her for walks. We went to the vet and he took an x-ray of her leg and saw something that looked like the beginning of hip displacia. But he said it might also be a hip fracture. He told us we would have to wait and see because it was too early to do surgery.
The strange thing is, hip displacia is a genetic disease and Yuki's family line has no history of that. Collies rarely get this disease. But there is also environmental factor for it. And we have wood floors inside which are very bad for her legs.
I don't know what to do. Help!

I will take my puppy out many times a day...sometimes she will pee outside. But most of the time I will take her out and she thinks its play time. We will go back in and she will use the bathroom as soon as we are back in the house. Now she has it in her head that going out is play time...which is fine sometimes, because it is, but she needs to use the bathroom outside also...any suggestions?

i love my dog because he is like a brother to me. he is always there when i need a shoulder to cry on. he always protects me. he really brought me out of my shell. before i got him i was shy. i didnt have friends. now i am a social butter fly and i have a lot of friends. in order to take care of him properly i had to talk to people like the vet and just random people that asked about him. and it helps that he is a beautiful dog. here is a pic of him. if u could provide one that would be awesome.
