Dogs use barking to communicate to you. They also use their tails and their facial expression plus licking and jumping on to you, lying on their backs etc. to be scratched by you etc. to communicate with you. Pl. get a good book on dogs to understand them.

Your dog could be barking because he is bored or lonely. Some dogs bark for attention, trying to get someone to pay attention to them. If your dog is a very social dog and his bark is somewhat high-pitched then he is most likely barking for attention. Another reason that your dog may be barking is if there are squirrels or any other thing encroaching on his space. Your dog may also bark if he is not getting enough exercise. Try taking him for a couple of walks a day if you have the time.

Dogs bark for many different reasons. Puppies need attention and affection along with the right amount of food & PLENTY of water. Labs get pretty big, so if you have him living in a small area, you need to make sure he gets enough exercise and has dog-safe toys to play with. At that age, interaction is very important. It sounds like he wants your attention. You will know when he is mad by his posture.
I suggest getting a book/s from your local library on puppies and raising dogs. There is also a lot of helpful information online.

If he is living in your patio, I would guess he's barking because he's lonely for companionship. Dogs bark to get your attention, and to them, getting yelled at is better than getting ignored. Your dog wants to be with you, simple as that. I'd try to bring that dog in the house, where he can be with his family...I am certain that this would cure his barking problem.

Sounds like he may be a bit bored. However, just like some people talk, and talk, and talk.....some doggies just like to bark, and bark, and bark. If it is becoming a problem, or annoying your neighbors, try a bark collar. I had to use one on one of my dogs. She wore it one night, never barked during the night again. In fact, she barked once, felt the tickle, and never barked fromher crate again. :-)

They bark because that's how they express themselves just life humans talk to express their opinion and to also socialize with other dogs. Maybe he just needs more attention or just to get out more.
