Have a 6 year old. Large house. 3 acres to run. Don't want to get a breed with a bunch of health issues. No fence. Work from home.

In general, larger dogs have better "family" attitudes than smaller dogs. There are always exceptions, of course. If you're looking for a sweet, loving dog who you don't have to worry too much about around young children, I'd go with a lab, golden or some sort of mix containing those. Bigger dogs can also handle things like a kid sitting on them better, and with less complaints. Most big dogs I've known will just choose to walk away from a little kid that's bothering it, and if that doesn't work, they just stand there and take it with a "help!" expression on their face.

It would depend on the age of the children in the household but I would highly suggest a Golden Retriever which is a medium sized dog (compared to some of the breeds on the market today). I would highly suggest giving it some training and after that, it should be a great family pet. I have two and I love them.

I would get a large mixed breed black dog from a shelter that would kill the dog if it doesnt get adopted. The large black dogs are always the last to be adopted and mine is the best dog I have ever had. Hes mixed rottwieller and boxer. Minds great, doesnt stray from the yard and lives to please his pack(our family)

Small breeds you can take them where ever you go. If you have a choice I would go with a bigger breed cuz they're more fun. But I wouldn't turn down a small breed either... Good Luck!

Leonberger. they're super with different animals interior the homestead. Bred for termperment and to be family individuals canine. additionally the breed became initially created utilising super Pyreneesm Newfoundlands and Saint Bernards simply by fact the founding inventory so the two considered one of you might have the potential to have a ingredient of what you needed:) Our daughter had guinea pigs whilst she became in highschool and their cage became in her rooms. Our Leo's had to give up, verify on and kiss the guinea pigs each night whilst they got here as much as mattress. The guinea pigs could run over to declare hi to their friends. whilst our daughter went directly to varsity the guinea pigs have been accompanied via a chum of ours who has a canine grooming organization and he or she referred to as us to invite us why we concept the guinea pigs have been working over to the ingredient of their cage and status up on the wires each and each time a canine got here into her shop the place they spent the day at a similar time as her son became at school. She have been given fairly a chuckle as quickly as we advised her the story. If its between a Newfie and a GP although i could choose the Newfie with smaller animals. it is in basic terms in line with my own adventure, the Newfies I honestly have met have tended to be calmer and gentler than the GP's who're herding/flock risk-free practices canine. of direction this is in basic terms my adventure. and prefer all canine although whilst they're doggies you will could coach them that the small pets are no longer toys. in case you do look into Leo's make optimistic they're honestly registered so which you get what you anticipate. There a some doggy mill breeders accessible on the 2d who're pawning off canine registered interior the yank puppy Registry or different non-registries as Leonbergers. God knows what those canine honestly are.
