STRAY dogs are being skewered on hooks and dragged behind boats as live shark bait. The cruel practice takes place on French-controlled Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean. A six-month-old labrador pup was recently found ALIVE with a huge double hook through its snout, and another through a leg. The pup was found in a coastal creek and is thought to have somehow freed itself from a fishing line, but other dogs and kittens have been chomped up and swallowed by sharks.

this was on a bulletin post on myspace but people always make stuff up is it true or not? >.>

I am considering getting another dog. I currently have a medium sized mutt (whom I ADORE!) but I've been thinking for a long time about getting a smaller dog too. Don't worry, I will do PLENTY of research before I ever adopt a dog, but I'm interested in your opinions too!

I love long haired breeds and love to brush them. I have arthritis in my hip, so I can't go on long walks but I can do SOME walking. I'm looking for a friendly lap dog who can stand up to a LOT of hugging! I know most small breed dogs tend to be yappy, so if there's a LESS yappy breed, I'd love to hear about it. I'm looking for something 25 pounds or less.

I'd love to hear your suggestions!

Last night, my miniature dachshund fell/jumped (not sure which) out of a truck going down a highway. We immediately rushed him to the vet... he didn't have any major external injuries, just some scrapes. No broken bones or anything, but he suffered a concussion and his pupils were pin-point dilated. Two hours after the vet first saw him, he checked up on him again and he seemed to be moving a little better, but his eyes were the same. This morning, again he was moving better, walked in a straight line, but his eyes were the same STILL and the vet said the only thing that worried him now was his vision. Please, educated opinions only... do you think his vision is only affected temporarily, or will he be blind? Does the fact that his eyes haven't changed seem really bad or could that just be because the brain swelling hasn't completely gone down?

PLEASE no rude comments about us being "careless" or whatever you may think. This was a complete accident.

Hey I have been wondering. Is it normal for dogs to eat cat feces? I just can't get over the fact that every single dog i have met never eats feces.I know it's weird to ask random canines that uncomfortable question but my dog Angel eats feces three times a week. Now I just want to know if that could danger ther health.

I would like to get a medium to large dog and have been looking at some rescue shelters in the area. I am drawn to bigger dogs more ( german shepard, boxer, lab, husky, ect.), but am worried about how such a dog might interact with the 2 cats already in the house (both about a year and a half old).

Am I asking for trouble here? Is there a breed of dog that is known for tollarance of cats? I am looking mostly at young puppies, and am hoping that the dog with learn to accept the cats as part of his "family". Any advice?

p.s. I am going to check out some boxer/ german shepard mix puppies tommorow that I really like

I am looking for a small or medium-sized dog for our family. We have a 10-year-old and a cat. We don't want a dog who barks/ yips all the time, nor one who is very hyper-active. One of our friends has a cockapoo and he seems like a good dog.
I am in the initial stages right now and am looking for breeds. Once I narrow it down, I'll do research on certain breeds, but right now I'm looking for people who have experience and may have any suggestions for breeds that may be what we are looking for.

Something happened to my dog today (He's a small dog), something with a bigger dog getting stuck in his leash. I don't know, I wasn't there. While that happened he suddenly yelped and cried really loud, and my mom took him inside and his eye was bleeding. She cleaned it up and It was fine for a while, but now he's kind of tilting his head to the side and squinting his eye, a few minutes ago he yelped out and I thought I had stepped on him but I didn't.

I don't want answers simply saying 'TAKE HIM TO THE VET', do you have any idea whats wrong with his eye?

When I'm on the computer, I usually have one dog on a pillow on my lap, one on a pillow on the desktop and one by my feet. The one on the desktop takes the place of my keyboard. Either I have to hold the keyboard out to the side or I'll use the onscreen keyboard (found under 'programs - accessories - accessibility') with my mouse to type. Fortunately I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and can use them both at a distance from the computer.

He keeps licking and itching! Because he licks his face is also itchy and raw. The vet gave him medicine for yeast infection. It is getting worse.

I have a 7 year old chow/wolf mix and he has been limping for a while. he ways about 150lbs, and eats a good portion of neutriants every day. He is a family pet and we havbe taken him to several doctors, but they all said it was nothing to worry about. The last time a vet told me that i lost my 3 year old border collie.. you can see why i dont trust there diagnosis. I have a close freind that did a project for her ap class on hip dysplayshia in different breeds of dogs and chow chows, and wolves are at the low raking score. so i highly doubt that it could be H.D.
Theres is also a possability of arthritis but it is very slim. his conditions seem to get worse and then better periodicly, but it has started to beacome worse and cause him to take a while to recouperate. I any of you face or have faced the same challenge as I please let me know. I would never think of amputating his leg (only if totaly necissary), so please try to obstain from advision so.
By the way im 13.. so bnice C.

My vet said, she (my dog) was depressed because she was in heat, and there is no dog for her to mate with.

I think the vet might have been leing, because she is not doing anything, she hides in her crate for hours and throws up constantly, I went back to the vet and he said he could take blood work and x rays which would be a couple of hundreds of dollars same thing with other vets

and we don't have that kind of money, they dont except payment plans niether.

I doubt she is in heat.

In the areas of : Toledo, Cleveland, or Columbus

It doesn't really matter the breed. But my budget is 50-150 (for adoption or rescue)

I'm buying a dog for my sister as a birthday present (she is 6). I don't have a lot of money to spend on the actual dog, but I do have a plan for care/health costs for the dog. So no lectures are needed.

I'd rather rescue a dog, then shell out a huge amount of cash to a breeder.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

she has the best temperament i could wish for. i wanted to have a litter from her and to keep a boy but due to some health problem`s she`s had, i feel it would be unfair to have a litter if theres a chance of passing on problems to her pups. my dilema is does getting her neutured change personality, temporament or behaviour and are there any health implications against getting this done. if there is i`ll just have to put up with the mess for 2 weeks every 6 months. thank you
