I have a 17 month old wolfdog that won't gain weight. He eats just fine, and I don't limit him, but he doesn't gain. The vet thought he was far to thin, but didn't give me any suggestions, due to the fact that he has always been that way. He's active & healthy, just very thin under all that fur! Any suggestions?

FYI, I feed my dogs Canidae Life-Stages Holistic Kibble.

I was work at the local shelter and regularly notice that there are far more BLACK lab pups available for adoption than pups from other breeds. Why is that? They were so cute, and they were really sweet. I just can't get my mind around it.

I have a 2 year old male (de-sexed) Mini Foxy and a 1 year old male (de-sexed) Chihuahua cross. They have been very good friends no fights, get along fine.
My Fiance' has just bought a male Great Dane puppy, 7 weeks old.
The Chihuahua cross is getting along fine with him, my Mini Foxy however is growling and showing teeth every time he comes near him, he has even snapped at him a couple of times. The puppy is doing nothing wrong.

Will this continue or get better with time? Can all three male dogs get along? Does anyone know any way to improve this?

Doesn't she realize that ALL purebred dogs came from breeding different types of dogs to come up with what the breeder wanted, and that two purebred dogs of different breeds will make a mutt? To me,and a lot of other dog lovers,a dog is a dog is a dog.I love them all, purebred or mutt, and I have both - all rescues or former strays, and yes, people throw away purebreds everyday,so I don't know why she thinks she's so high and mighty for breeding purebreds, and puts down those of us who own mutts. She may be a responsible breeder, but can she prove that none of the puppies she has sold have ended up on the streets or in a dog pound,or contributed to the mutt population by mating with a dog of a different breed? And how many of you agree that all dogs are created equal, and a mutt is every bit as good and deserving of a good home as any purebred?

I recently adoped a dog from a shelter. She was a stray, picked up by animal control and was in the shelter for almost a month before I adoped her. She's young- about a year old and at first she didn't play with toys. Now she does, but she fetches "backwards." If I toss a toy in the living room, she picks it up and carries it through the kitchen and leaves it by the back door. At the park, she will chase what I throw until it stops moving, then loose interest in it when it's still. I tried standing near the door, and praising her and taking the toy from her when she's bringing it that way anyway, and stepping further away from the door, but she keeps putting them down right by the door. Someone said not all breeds play fetch as well as others. I'm not sure what type of mix she is, but she has the appearances of german shepherd and rotweiller. Any further suggestions are welcome. I'd love to be able to throw the ball at the park for her. thanks

Hi, everyone.

I got an e-mail from a local no-kill shelter today that had some very cool news inside! They have a Beagle that needs to be fostered!

The shelter doesn't know very much about the dog, but they'll be finding out more about him on Friday. What we do know is:

• He's named Flash.
• He's a neutered male.
• He's 7 years old.
• The shelter lady described him as "naughty" (not sure what this means, but we are guessing he is a door-dasher??).
• He is being surrendered because his current parent is pregnant, and is not sure if she can handle a dog right now.

So, can you tell me EVERYTHING you know about Beagles??

Thanks!!

I live in Kansas and we have sand fleas pretty bad in this state. My dog is medium sized (about 43 lbs) and it seems like I am getting bit by the fleas he brings in the house. Can anyone help me? I live on a fixed income, so I have to find a way that is cost effective. Please help.

I'd prefer the dog to be not small, more on the larger side and not skinny. I need this for a short story I'm writing.

Has anyone else named their dog 'PORKCHOP' and if so what kind of dog is he or she, and tell me a little bit about your dog. By the way mine loves to lick peanut butter off his nose after I put some on it for him to enjoy! I love him a lot!

He is 1 year old and people says its a MUST to crop a pit's ears, well is it? I mean c'mon he looks so cute/good with his ears on, plus I don't want that agressive bad boy look, they already have a bad rap so I guess its enough with that

My dog, Sugar didn't produce enough milk for her puppies. Just enough for a feeding or two, so I started bottle feeding them @ 2 weeks. I started feeding them puppy food @ 3 1/2 weeks. Do I need to mix it w/ water or formula? They seem to be eating & drinking fine. They do seem to sleep a bit. Wepla w/ them. I come into the kitchen and I'm covered w/ puppies.Which I don't mind. The come to me and sit @ my feet until I pick them up and love them. I feel like their mom. I think if they could reach out for me they would. Is this ok. Also since they are eating food do I need to worm them earlieror wait till they are 6 weeks old

My dogs mouth smells like her butt.. possible worse since her butt doesn't try to lick me on a regular basis.

I'm guessing its becuase we recently weaned her into a new food (all natural). I feel like the natural food is making a difference in her health, but I also think it might be the cause of some serious doggy halitosis. I don't really want to switch her food, but somethings got to be done!

So... whats the BEST doggy breath treats? Whats your dogs favorite? whats the one that doggy wants nothing to do with? Which ones work the best? (might need somethin strong cuz its pretty rotten)

Thanks for the help!
