I'd prefer the dog to be not small, more on the larger side and not skinny. I need this for a short story I'm writing.

I would visit the AKC or UKC site. You want a dog that is rarer. If you are rich you can get a rare dog. I don't know your characters, so it is hard to say. But the Clumber Spaniel is known as the gentleman's hunt dog. http://www.clumbers.org/ He is a rolly polly dog.

Anothe great dog would be the Greater Swiss Mountian Dog. http://www.gsmdca.org/

Could you give me a little more information about your character? Rich, but is this a older rich person, male- female? Is the dog more athletic, or couch potato? Young or old?

Make sure it is real dog "Golden Lab"?? It is either a golden retrivier or a Lab. Or a cross between the two- but a sterotypical rich person would have a purebred.

The first dog that came to my head.. French Bulldog! They're not like regular bulldogs.. they're actually much smaller with more pointed ears. Also, perhaps a Chinese Crested because they're so unusual. A Cavalier King Charles also reminds me of wealthy people.. What about a good ol' Poodle? Not the toy ones.. But then again, they're a bit skinny in the legs. The Queen of England has a ton of Welsh Corgis. You can do an image search on a search engine and get all their pictures, and make your decision from there.. I think Bichon Frises are beautiful also.. Good luck in your quest! :o)

I have to say I agree with the people that said that not all rich people like the same breeds. I guess most people would normally think of rich people owning dogs like Yorkshire Terriers, Toy Poodles, Pomeranians, Chihuahuas, Pekineses, Shih Tzus, Standard Poodles, Labs, Goldens, etc, but there are a lot of rich people that own breeds like American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Dobermans, Rottweilers, Chow Chows, etc. It really all depends on the individual person, their life style and their wants and needs. Sorry, I know that's not much help! lol! Good luck though! : )

Like an Afghan or a standard poodle? Beautiful smart dogs that need a lot of attention to grooming for their looks. We used to raise the larger breed of poodles. They are actually hunting dogs, but the women love them because they don't shed and are so smart and of course, beautiful when groomed. If left alone to just grow hair, they look alot like a big bear.

They LOVE to have the trendy new designer dogs, of course! Those, and they LOVE to support the stupid backyard breeders of "teacup" and whatever new trendy version of a breed is being bred.

Celebrities love Chihuahuas, as has been proven by Paris Hilton, Hilary Duff, Britney Spears, among others.

Traditionally, the dogs ARE small, like a yorkie or toy poodle. But if you are looking for larger, then go for a standard poodle. White is the best color in this case.

Not all rich people like the same thing. I dont think one dog is more common than another. Some even adopt shelter dogs which could be a mix of who knows what.

Rich people have diverse likes and dislikes just like the general population. I do know that a lot of celebrities own chihuahuas tho.

Usually dogs owned by rich people are small.Like toy poodles, chiuahuas, yorkies, and so on.But you could also use larger types of those dogs.

I raise AKC Yorkies. I had a couple fly out to pick up their puppy. The sweet little Yorkie they bought is living the good life in the Hamptons.
