I have a 2 year old male (de-sexed) Mini Foxy and a 1 year old male (de-sexed) Chihuahua cross. They have been very good friends no fights, get along fine.
My Fiance' has just bought a male Great Dane puppy, 7 weeks old.
The Chihuahua cross is getting along fine with him, my Mini Foxy however is growling and showing teeth every time he comes near him, he has even snapped at him a couple of times. The puppy is doing nothing wrong.
Will this continue or get better with time? Can all three male dogs get along? Does anyone know any way to improve this?

i dont know why some people feel the need to be rude.....why bother getting on this website, you sure aren't helping anyone and it's not funny......AND yes i have researched great danes and have spent alot of time with our breeder. no i don't think i missed any chapters in any books, i think you may be lacking common sense....i don't see dogs living in packs in the wild having problems because "you" say there should never be 3 males together.....

Just give it time. The older male dogs are just wanting to show the pup who's boss and dominant. Don't worry they will all be use to each other before you know it.

Neutered males rarely fight and it is normal behavior for an adult to snarl at the furry ball of energy that puppies are. This is how a pup is trained by the adults to behave in a pack. It is generally nothing to worry about but do watch them closely for a while. If the adult is actually hurting the pup, they will need to be separated until the pup settles down and then re-evaluated. Sometimes, just like with people, a particular pair of dogs do not get along but again, if they are all neutered, this becomes by far less likely and also the rare occurrence of fights by neutered males rarely causes serious injury.
Please note: the above is NOT TRUE for neutered females.

i don't know what all these people are going on about... just give them some time and it will be fine. my neighbor's pitbulls (both males and NOT neutered) break into our yard all the time and both of my dogs, who are also male, get along fine. they used to fight but now they're used to each other even though the pitbulls aren't here that often. Let them work it out while the great dane is a puppy because great danes are said to be a little snappy when irritated.

It's called "pack mentality". Each dog has and knows their place in the pack, you'll have one alpha male (leader) in your situation w/ only males. It may take time for your one dog to "put the puppy in it's place" in the pack including attacking and biting it. Hopefully it's only a one time deal if it even reaches that point.
Our little 2 1/2 lb. full grown Yorkie is the alpha over his buddy, our other Yorkie that is 6 lbs. The 6 lb. one could kick his butt if he wanted to but he's content letting the little guy boss him around a bit. He's already used to it and ignores the little one tearing into his rear end when they run out the door together, lol.
Just don't leave them unattended untill this is resolved, hopefully it will be soon. When they don't get along it can get real frustrating fast.

You and your fiancee should take your dogs out for daily walks together this way they will be doing an activity together yet not having to make eye contact. It is a good way to reduce stress and once they are tired out there should be less conflict in the house. It should lessen over time. I had 3 small boy dogs raised together without any major issues. They all agreed who was the alpha dog.. amazingly enough it turned out to be the youngest.

I have three males in my doggie household, two of which are neutered, one is still a puppy, and they all live quite happily together. My oldest Golden, who is 10, is definitely the "Alpha" and only has to growl if the puppy steps out of line and he backs off immediately. He knows his place in the 'pecking order' already. It is the same with the girls, they all know their place 'No-one steps in front of 'Grandma'.
I find it fascinating watching the way they all interact with each other. It's a bit like 'Sleeping with Wolves' here.
Give it time. The puppy will soon find out who's boss in the doggie pack and learn to respect him, irrespective of size.
Once you have had him neutered too you will not have any problem whatsoever. Good luck.

I just recently got another dog, 2 females, and for the first couple days they had little fights mostly my current dog telling the new one who was boss. Its only been a week and already the two of them are wrestling and playing chase with each other. Just give it time and it'll work itself out.

You should hire a trainer to come in and help you.. 3 males is a very very bad idea. I'll bet tho.. once that dane grows up, those 2 little guys will make a decent meal for him.. Did you do research before you bought the dane.. Did you miss the chapter on keeping 3 males together??

This will probably get better as time goes on- Leave the dogs to resolve this on their on-Dogs have a normal 'ranking' order and it is possible that Foxy is just teaching the new comer his rank-
