Monitored alarm system.
Your dogs probably barked their heads off so they did their job. You can't rely on them to prevent robberies.
If you have them "security trained" you will need to keep them fenced at all times since they would be considered potentially dangerous dogs.

Well, I have a couple of comments. You say you have no fences. Were your dogs even there or were the left inside the house.
In the past, when I lived in the country, I was robbed and had a 150 lb dog. She was shot with a pellet gun to keep her away.
I live in town now and I have been robbed twice and I have 3 dogs one being a mean looking Pit Bull. I got a security system.
Later I read an article written by a convicted burglar turned security consultant. He said dogs do not worry burglars because some good treats or a pound of hamburger will take care of them, unless they are trained to be a "Junk yard dog".
He also said that most burglars will stay away from a house that has a sign in the front yard that says "Protected by XYZ alarm". He said you don't need the alarm, just the sign. Of course you cannot get the sign unless you sign up with the alarm system. My contract says the alarm system belongs to me but the sign is their property. If I stop the monitoring they can take the sign back.
Good luck.

Your dogs should not be used as security guards they are pets and are only acting as pets should. I would suggest a home security alarm or possibly having someone house sit while you are away with a gun. There is a chance since your yard is not fenced that if you make them more protective and they get out that they might harm someone you don't mean to harm i.e. a small child especially the rott and chow. You really want to stop them put up a fence and at the top and bottom run a thin wire with an electrical current running through it. Not a large current just enough to presuade these people to not do it again. If its been hit three times then it sounds to me that it might be the same people or someone they know who have been told its an easy hit. Use your brain there are other ways to stop them than the dogs. With technology these days anything is possible. My dad put up cameras that were motion censored and recorded 24/7. At least if you did get hit again you would have something to give the police.

You could look into a personal protection class with your dogs. This specific training will help when you are home. However, for the times when you are not home to give specific commands, you may want to invest in a home security system.
I have the same problem with my American Bulldog, however my Rotti takes care of greeting strangers at the door all on his own. My boyfriend works nights and no problems here.

sorry but it is a good thing to have friendly dogs, less to worry about legally. on the other hand theft is a big issue and maybe you need to install a security system

Invest in a security system. The robber can still sue you for injury even if he's in your house! Same thing if you shoot him.
