It is true, but whoever posted the article and picture on myspace is about a year behind on the whole matter. I first found out about it last year in one of my animal science classes. It is absolutely appalling that they would to that to an animal that is alive, the least they could do if they are that hard up for shark bait is kill them first.

could be, i know for a fact they have dog farms in south korea, just like cattle farms, they kill the dogs and eat them. they do not use humane methods of killing them either, for some reason the preferred method is hanging. the meat is served in some restaurants but mostly on the carts that are all over. if you go to a market there they will have meat cut up on a table and just to the side either the head of a dog or a paw so you will know what it is. it used to be illegal to sell it as when the olympics was there is really upset the foreigners but they still sell it. just don't try to photograph it either the locals will chase you with a knife and threaten you.

It's possible that a single psychopath is doing this, but I sincerely doubt that it's a regular practice. A slurry of chopped up fish bits and fish blood is very good for attracting sharks; I doubt a dog with a single wound (or even two) would work as well.

OMG! I can't even believe it, it's so horrific. The poor things. People are such creeps, I don't mean to sound like a stupid American, but I can't even comprehend why people in other countries (and maybe even here in America) would think that it's okay to torture such a pure and innocent creature. Do you know if there are any protests against it? I guess it would be impossible because it's in another country, but that hasn't stopped people before.

It might be true (I only say that because people do stupid stuff like that). But myspace usually has a lot of bull sh*t, I would never trust myspace with the whole story.

sort of, apparently is does happen by really stupid fishermen. but they are few, and they are not tolerated. so it's not like a widespread practice over there. just stupid individuals.
here's where I found out, and a great place to figure out about almost anything you hear. they find out if all kinds of legends and such are true

I haven't heard about this before today so I really wouldn't know. Maybe if you typed it on another search engine and see what comes up. I really, really, really hope that it's not true.

It is possible that it is true, but it is very inhumane...
It is basically free bait to try to catch sharks.
