Absolutely and it's not the only brand that is. Check the label on Science Diet. The first ingredient is corn. Then check the label on Canidae. The first ingredient is chicken meal. That's chicken with all of the moisture removed. The second ingredient is turkey meal followed by brown and white rice, and lamb meal. A huge difference!

Do you know why Science Diet is sold by vets? It's because their sales plummeted when they sold food made with moldy grain in the late 90s. I experienced it first hand with a dog I adopted. That food smelled moldy! There was no mistaking the odor and there is no way that company didn't know there was a problem. About a year ago, Diamond had a similar problem.

I have been feeding Canidae for over a year now and my dogs (Chihuahuas and a Springer mix) just love it. I've also noticed fresher breath and their teeth are in better condition too. I also feel good knowing that every ingredient was raised right here in the United States. Other good brands are Eagle Pack, Innova and Wellness and any one of them would work well too. BTW when I started buying Canidae, hardly anyone knew about it around here but now it is the top selling food where I shop. There is no better advertising than word of mouth which is exactly what happened. Hope this helps.

Canidae is one of several excellent feeds available. You need to read the labels and look for meat (not meat byproducts) in the first ingredients. Stay away from fillers like corn & grains. I feed Innova EVO since my dog got tired of Canidae (she's spoiled), but I'll probably switch back just for variety. You may be able to do a search on "dog food ratings" or something similar. There's a dog publication called Whole Dog Journal & they publish an annual review of the healthiest dog foods.

Canidae is FAR superior to Science Diet or any other store brand food. Science Diet and other such foods are full of cheap fillers, carbs and by products.

Yes, just look at the ingredients. SD has corn, soy and other fillers in it. Canidae does not.

That's a matter of personal opinion. Both are good foods. You should read the labels on both and make your own decision.
