I'm wondering when a dog really develops his habits and personality. My dog is a great dog, he doesn't bark and his disposition is super sweet and he's 11 months old. I'm thinking about getting another dog and I'm wondering if I should wait or is now a good time?

My dog, Gizmo, is a 6 year old Pekingese and he won't stop marking his territory! I thought I stopped the problem but I found some pee stains behind my mothers bed when I was re-painting her room for her birthday and I KNOW they werent there before. I'm getting so frustrated! I took him to the vet for a full blown checkup and hes fine, so its not a UTI. I know not to use anything with Ammonia (hes used to the ammonia anyway, so it doesnt help). He was neutered at 6 months, so I have no idea WHY he keeps doing this!

I'm usually good with solving these types of problems, but this one stumps me. I have a new puppy (female) who is almost 7 months old and I dont want her to learn that its okay to pee inside the house -- and for Gizmo to throw off her training because she is doing SO well.

If anyone has any websites or ANY advice, please share. I'm at my witz end!
If you need to know any additional info, just tell me and I'll Add Details for you.

Thanks so much.

Have an 8 week old pitbull.....just got his leash and collar yesterday. At first, he wouldn't even walk with the damn thing on - lol stubborn *** would just not move. But anyway, he moves freely now, a little hesitant some times, but its only the second day.

My problem is, when he does start walking, he always cuts me off!!! Its the most annoying thing ever. He just doesn't walk in a straight line, he just walks on the side of me, and cuts my feet off. I have to extend my arm with the leash just so he doesn't cut me off. But that makes walking more difficult.

Any suggestions?

Should i just step on him one good time to teach him a lesson lol j/k i know thats cruel....lol but thats why i'm here asking for advice.

I have a 7 month old Boxer, he's about 48lbs right now. He's tall, but very lean, definitely looks thin. We feed him Nutro's Natural Choice large breed puppy formula (dry food), but he doesn't seem to fill out at all. Is there anything else i can do to put some meat on his bones?

well I went on a walk with her, and about 100 yards from my house, she stopped and laid down. after much coaxing (to no avail), I had to pick her up and carry her to my house (which wouldnt be so bad if she wern't a great dane). anyway, I've sprayed her down with water but she is still kinda laying there. its been about 2-3 hours now. please help....

This may be a stupid question. I saw once on here someone said they had to send DNA into AKC to prove that their White German Shepherd was a pure bred. Does the AKC have DNA on records where a sample can tell them if a dog is a pure bred? IF so, can the sample also tell them the blood line the dog is from? Just curious. I have a big GSD I rescued, and I know that the rescue said he was from a breeder, but in rescue they won't give out the former owners personal information.

He always wants to lead in our walks and he pulls me everywhere. I've been trying to make him walk beside me and behind and it's starting to work(you know the walking in the other direction when he pulls and goes in front of you method) but it's a lot of work and effort and it seems like he's uncomfortable and reluctant to be walking behind me to the left. Sometimes I think, in his mind he thinks he's the leader and he's protecting me from everything, leading me and guiding his way wherever he wants to go. However when I let go of the leash and walk away from him, he won't go far without me and comes running to me, so is he getting used to walking behind me or is he just the natural born alpha pack leader?

This has happend 3 times in the last 2 years. My yellow lab comes and lays down by me and looks at me like something is wrong. He starts to shake a little bit- so i told him to stand up and he did and walked his back legs were spread and very wobbley. Then he laid down and shook. He clenched his teeth for a few seconds- we got him to drink some water and he just laid there next to me. after about 5 min he got up and seemed back to normal- went outside and did his business, then came back and went to sleep on his bed. Is this a seizure or something different? He didnt drool and had no foaming of the mouth. His eyes were glazy however. We cleaned his ears about 45 min b4 it happend this time, could that have done something? he has had itchy ears lately. it scared the hell out of me

Our Chihuahua barks at EVERYONE, especially children. We have kids at home, so it's not that he's not used to kids. It's hard to take him for walks or anywhere in the car because he barks hysterically at everyone that passes by. It's so embarassing. Help!

He consumed about 4 oz. of lanolin, (commonly used for nursing human's sore nipples.) It says non toxic, (babies get a little when they nurse) but he ate much more than one would use for medical purposes. Any ideas??

I have a 50lb pit/shepherd mix who is 1.5 years old. she loves to run and has lots of energy. At home, she is happy to run in the yard and a 4ft fence and supervision is enough to keep her out of trouble.

But, we bring her to my dad's house so she can run on his 17 acres. I never leave her outside alone but she runs circles around me so I don't have full control over her. On the edge of the property is a road with a 55 mph limit. Cars don't come by too often, but I don't want to take a chance. The problem is, a fence is impractical because we would need thousands of feet of it, and she can easily clear 4ft. Even though the fence works at home, it is a much smaller yard than my Dad's. Would an underground radio/electric fence work for us? She is smart and I am willing to train her, but we only visit some weekends so I don't know if it will work. Are these fences strong enough for pits? Which brand is best? (petsafe or humane contain?)

thanks for help on my 1st Q ever!

I am about to foster a dog from our local Boxer rescue. I have a Boxer now, and really want to help these wonderful dogs. Has anyone ever fostered before? This will be my first time, and I am curious of how it goes, what to consider, etc.

Thanks!
