as for kepping the seat warm, my dog is a husky and always is trying to keep cool.

It means you are the top dog, you are alpha and where you sit is the alpha position so when you vacate that spot the dog jumps in. Now this is really important, when you return to that spot do you make the dog move or does it move on its own? You should always make it move because if you don't then the dog will become alpha over you and it will be in charge. And as you might surmise this is not a good thing. So as long as you do not allow the dog to make you move or not allow you to require the spot then everything is fine.

MY DOG DOES THE EXACT SAME THING! He's a yorkie/maltese mix and whenever i get up he goes and steals my spot, wheter it's on the couch or bed. IT's probably just because it's warm, or maybe he's trying to aggravate you.

to me it means that the dog feels safe in the spot that you have claimed and left.
Also it may be making sure your spot id warm when you come back! haha

It likes the way it smells. Mostly because it smells just like you. It also could be because it is warm.
