Science Diet is nothing more then a high priced store brand food. It is full of cheap fillers and by products. It is not a quality food.It is certainly not one of the best foods you can get...just reading the ingredients will tell you that.
It takes up to 3 times more of a grain based store brand food then it does a quality meat based food.
Some good choices are:
Canidae, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, Wellness, Solid Gold, Fromm, Merrick just to name a few.
****also if you have a "giant" breed puppy such as a Great Dane do NOT ever feed puppy food of any kind not even large breed..Dane pups should not ever have a food with a protein level higher then 24%*******

I think this question is best answered with: It won't hurt your puppy. You can do better and actually pay less. The problem with Science Diet is that you do not get a super premium dog food with excellent ingredients. You get much less and pay more for it.

Science Diet, Purina, Eukanuba, Iams, they're all the worst possible foods for your dog. Yes, Science Diet is an awful thing to feed a pet.

Actually Science diet foods is only one step above Grocery store food. Any food that has by products in it is not really a good food. Science diet had Chicken By products, that means heads beaks and anything else that is left over and not use able for humans

Science diet puppy food is one of the best foods you can get. It is healthy and has less fillers that most of the grocery store brands have. So, you feed less because it is getting more nutrition out of every feeding.
If you have a large breed, like a Lab or Great Dane, make sure you get a puppy food specifically for large breeds. They need extra nutrition for their bones.
Hope I could help.

It is not the absolute worst food but it is certainly not the best either. Many Vet recommend Science diet because they get compensation.
Do research on dog food. The majority of the brands you find in most retail stores aren't worth a dime. Read the ingredients.

Look at the ingredients list. If it contains Corn meal first, skip it. We have been using Nutro brand since our dog was a puppy- and not only does he love it...he is in great, great shape. Our vet recommended the brand. You can buy it at Petsmart and Petco.
Congrats on your new puppy!

Read the ingredients...
If it has corn, animal digest, by products, colors, BHA, BHT, sweeteners, then it is not good food.
I feed Flint River Ranch. They even have wheat free formulas (Fish and Chips and Lamb Millet Rice)

If you are getting the puppy kind. (it should say right on the bag) But that company tests on animals as well......just to let you know. I would go for an all natural food like Holistic Blend or Ripley's. Site is below if you are interested.
