My husband and I adopted a dog and like 5 days later the dog had worms..I dunno what type of worms but days later it died..I'm just wondering the damage that worms can do to kill the dog? I read a answer on another question and heard it damages the heart..is that true? I know it eats up the intestines but what other damage does it do?

I am thinking about adopting the most adorable puppy but he he has heartworm. After we get his treatments (which will cost about $600) will he always have medical issues because of the heartworm or will he be able to be normal again?

It looks as if the outside of her eyeball is coming lose. It happened first to her left eye but it just seemed to go away on its own. Now it is happening to the right eye about a month later. Does anyone have any idea what this is. Is it serious?

i REALLY want a puppy, and my parents said i could have one, as long and it is good with children. i have a 1 year old and a 9 year old in the house, the can be loud at times, and the little one is still learning. so i need a dog with patience. the children don't pull ears or anything like that, they're just rowdy. i would like a med. size dogs, im not fond of small dogs, and big ones are too hard to take with me places,so im looking for something mellow... any suggestions? thank you =]

My dog was fixed on Wednesday, yesterday he started getting diarrhea, today the diarrhea had large amounts of blood in it and a very foul odor. I have never smelled anything so bad, it smells like death. The vet says it could be parasites or parvo, but not due to the surgery. What do you think? He is a four year old healthy Pit Bull.

I have 2 german shepards. one is 12 years old and needs dental work,and the other one is 3 and needs help with weight gain and joint problems.
When I first got this beautful dogs I was finacially set,now I am disabled and waiting for my disability SSI check to come thru.Maybe there are groups that help the disabled with things like this ? Please let me know because my babies need to be taking care of.

She is 58 days today! She had a 99.2 temp and has had for several days now. Her vulva doesn't seem to be swollen but she is whimpering alot and she keeps trying to get in my bed(that's where she sleeps) and she cannot seems to get comfy! I haven't seen the puppies move much at all today. She keeps hiding under the covers and my little male has stayed away from her all day! She also doesn't let me get out of her sight! She hasn't eaten anything all day!! She is miserable! A couple of time i have felt of her belly and it is really hard then it gets soft again. She licked at herself once or twice today and I havent seen any discharge where she has been laying.....Also she is getting up from her bed and walking a minute and then getting back in her bed.....

My dog is a picky eater. When i give her her dog food she acts like i am trying to poison her. Eventually she eats. From what i see (her poo) and other health seem to be fine. But is it possible that she is allergic to the food?

Can you get your dog tested - like people can be tested for allergies?

She does lick her feet a lot why is this?

My dog has had diarea for a couple of days and im starting to worry but to make it worst i'm seeing blood in his poop im calling the vet but what do you think it is for one my dog keeps find chicken bones and put them in his mouth and i have to fight to get it away from him but im afraid he might have a small bone in side of him but what kind of damage could that do? please help im very worried he's my baby.

She had 2 canine teeth removed because the adult came in next to them. While brushing her teeth I noticed a gap between molars and canine on bottom jaw. Hate to go to vet for this only. They'd probably advise implants or something. s this serious? She's one year.

I heard that almost all Police and Service Dogs are un-neutered males. Even if they wont be bred in the future. Why is this if neutering is so good?

Then do you think California bill that will require any dog or cat to be neutered is a good thing, considering there is no exceptions for Police and Service Dogs?

So i clean my dog's (pic to the left) ears with a typical liquid dog ear cleaner. ive tried many. most dont really clean her ears out enough, and they get dirty again in a weeks time. is this normal?

but my real question is sometimes the water doesnt fully exit her ears, if i wiggle her ears you can still hear that there is water in there. what should i do? ive tried cotton swabs etc..

Alright, so my 3 month-old Cockapoo puppy just got his first vaccination yesterday. He had Kennel cough before, and I'm not entirely sure if he completely recovered before the shot. Anyways, he was fine right after the shot, at least until today. After I gave him a bath(today), I noticed he was sniffing/whimpering and shaking. At first I thought it was just because he was cold. So I dried him up and he still continued to shake! Now he barely moves around and constantly is shuddering. When my other older dog came up to him, he growled and tried to bite her; which is definitely not normal.

I don't know if his sudden condition is from the vaccine or not, but that's what I suspect. Is it even possible to have reactions to vaccines a day later? Help?

Pls. Help me! I just got a little boxer about a week and a half ago. He bites me all the time even when I'm not playing with him. I know it's not attention he needs, he gets lots of it. I just don't know what to do with him. I have tried everything. When I give him time-out he destroys everything and when I just loudly tell him "don't bite"! he starts barking at me and doesn't stop. I just don't want to do the wrong thing and end up with a violent dog. I want to be able to walk him without having to worry he will try to bite someone else.
Pls. help me and give me your best advice.

I am looking for a good medium sized dog for an apartment. i dont want a toy dog. i dont mind a large breed eathier. i am active and bike and rollar blade an hour a day. the dog will get plenty of exercise and my apartment has a trail and a dog park . thanks

I have just moved to a new house, and I introduced my dog to her new home on Wednesday and she has not eaten or used the restroom ever since Wednesday night. Is this normal or should I take her to the vet? My husband said that she just might be getting used to her new environment but when dogs have to go, don't they just go? What should I do?
