I have just moved to a new house, and I introduced my dog to her new home on Wednesday and she has not eaten or used the restroom ever since Wednesday night. Is this normal or should I take her to the vet? My husband said that she just might be getting used to her new environment but when dogs have to go, don't they just go? What should I do?

Take your dog for a long walk around her new neighborhood. Be sure to take along something to clean up after her. No sense getting on the wrong side of your neighbors first thing. She needs to get out and work off any nervousness she has or picked up from you about the move and the walk should get her back to normal as far as going to the bathroom as well. If it doesn't, you may need to take her to the vet. It's probably the move that has her out of sorts, but if she's not back to normal soon, a checkup may be in order.

Take her to a dog park or somewhere with the smells of lots of other dogs - she's pretty likely to go.

As for not eating, she's just uneasy about the change. Give her another day or so. Maybe add a few goodies to her dog food like chicken or hamburger, or even a spoon full of cottage cheese, or an egg, or some no-sugar added yogurt to encourage her to eat.

It's likely that it is just the stress of a new environment. Usually after a few days they pull out of it and are adjusted. There could also be unerlying health issues. If she does not pull out of it take her to the vet and explain all the symptoms to him and hopefully he can give you some health answers if not suggestions on how to help her adjust to her new surroundings!

Good Luck!

Im not sure if thats just because shes in a new home or not. I would suggest that you take your pup to the vet or atleast call your pups vet, let them know whats going on and see what they suggest. I hope your pup feels better soon! Good luck! : )

I would take her to the vets the eating might be normal but not going isn't.
I wouldn't want to take chances especially with the weekend coming don't end up with an emergency by waiting
