Unvaccinated dogs of any age can get it, it is a virus. Puppies, because they are small and have underdeveloped immune systems, cannot fight it off as well. It is the #1 killer of puppies in the US. Best treatment is agressive rehydration (usually via IV's) or the pups literally die of dehydration. The virus remains in the soil or on surfaces for months and in some cases years so you should NEVER bring a new unvaccinated pup into an environment where one has died from parvo, unless you thoroughly disinfect (I am talking even disinfecting the dirt) Also never take an unvaccinated pup out around other dogs (petsmart, dog park, etc) until they have had their full series of vaccines.

Usualy transmitted via the feces. Yellowstone National Park lost 60% of their wolf pups last year due to parvo; some park visitor did not clean up after their domesticated dog...

Older dog's can contract parvo. It is not very common in older dogs because they are given anti-bodies at an early age to aid in the prevention of parvo. If you have an older dog that has a weakened immune system it could possibly contract the virus.

Parvo can be contracted by ANY dog, from pupphood to adulthood.
All dogs need to be immunized against it as puppies, with boosters as adults.
You should ask your vet why he thinks she MIGHT have it and why he has any questions as to the diagnosis. You need to know what symptoms to look for to verify that your dog should be treated.
If your vet doesn't want to treat, and you do, you can try the AmberTech holistic medicines.

Yes,any dog that hasn't been vaccinated for such can get Parvo. This virus is very contagious and very few dogs survive it and must be placed in a Vet's care.Chances of survival is better. If your pet does have Parvo, you must disenfect all things this pet has come into contact with,or any pet that enters your area unvaccinated for such will contact.

Ask your vet to do a Parvo Test. It's easy to do and not very expensive.
They're made by IDEXX laboratory and they take about 15 minutes to run.
If your vet does not keep them on hand - you may want to find a new vet.

aNY DOG CANACTUALLY GET IT BUT MOST COMMON IN PUPS NOT FULLY VACCINATED. DOGS THAT HAVEN'T BEEN VACCINATED AND SOMETINES OLDER DOGS THAT ARE NOT VERY HEALTHY DUE TO AGE.
THEY SHOULD DO A TEST ON THE PUPPY TO FIND OUT IF ITS PARVO.

Dogs without the vaccine can get it. They can get it from contaminated poop or diarreah . I just heard about this on the news in Ohio. Dogs are getting it at Parks.
