It looks as if the outside of her eyeball is coming lose. It happened first to her left eye but it just seemed to go away on its own. Now it is happening to the right eye about a month later. Does anyone have any idea what this is. Is it serious?
Thanks!

Thanks everyone for suggesting cherry eye..however when i looked it up i dont believe this is the problem. It almost looks as though she is wearing contact lens that is getting wrinkled in her eye? I can't think of a better way to explain it. Thanks everyone for the helps!

Is it the eyeball or the eyelid? I don't think part of the eyball would come loose. Dogs can get a condition called cherry eye. On the inside of the eyelid, there will be a funny red looking thing. It is also called the third eyelid. It usually needs surgery to correct.

It could possibly be Canine Eyelid Disease, "Cherry Eye." The 3rd lacrimal gland prolapses, causing a red mass in the corner of the dog's eye. Cherry Eye surgery is required to fix the problem.

Google the term, "Cherry Eye" and look at the images. I would post one, but I don't like looking at them (sorry.)

I would ask your vet about it, they are the only people who can diagnose it.

Cherry Eye is not painful itself, but the longer you leave it exposed it will become more irritated. If the dog paws at it or tears, it will start to become painful.

Good luck, I am pretty sure that it is Cherry Eye. It is common and it looks like "the outside of the eyeball is coming loose."

Sounds as she may have an infection of some type or an allergy. My neighbor used to breed Jack Russells & several of hers had this type of eye problem. If I understand the condition called cherry eye, it's very irritating & painful for the dog & needs to be surgically corrected.
The best thing to do is have your vet check her out to be sure all is well.

It's probaby Cherry eye

Cherry eye is the term used to refer to canine nictitans gland prolapse, a common eye condition in various dog breeds where the gland of the third eyelid prolapses and becomes visible. t appears as a red mass in the inner corner of the eye, and is sometimes mistaken for a tumor. After gland prolapse, the eye becomes chronically inflamed and there is often a discharge. Because the gland is responsible for about 30% of the eye's tear production, the eye can eventually suffer from dryness (keratoconjunctivitis sicca).[4] Dry eye may eventually occur in 30 to 40 percent of dogs that have the gland removed, yet it may affect about 20 percent of dogs that have the gland surgically replaced [5]

methods of cherry eye correction involve repositioning of the gland to its normal location. The success rate of this type of surgery is around 80% in most breeds.Go to this web site to see a picture of Cherry Eye

My Jack Russell has what is called a "Cherry Eye". Thats where in the corner it looks inverted. And its pink in color. Does not hurt anything. Just looks funny. On the search line put in Cherry Eye and read about it.
