A large pile of rotting nightcrawlers--had to be dozens of them--were dumped at the very back of our yard in some brush. My puppy got out and before we were able to locate him, he inhaled the whole pile! They were rotting and reeked terribly (and now so does he, even after a bath!). I know live worms generally are considered a good source of protein, but these were rotten and rancid and covered in some weird brown flies. I am afraid they are going to make him very ill... Any suggestions? This would have to happen on a Friday night when the vet is closed, of course.

Hello, My female boxer is finally in labor she is 64 days gestation. Before anyone has anything negitive to say like i dont love her (or any other snide remarks) dont bother to answer! I have already contacted my vet and he is not worried. I just want a second opinion.
She is very restless and is nesting she has a little bit of egg white goohy discharge with a little presents of blood. My vet said that it was her cervix dialating and is normal. Is this normal? She dosent act like she is in pain or anything, and puppies are still moving. She was a the vets office yesterday and everything was fine as well. Thanks for all your caring comments.
P.S. When I bred Rottweilers my rotties would have this same thing and i just want to make sure that it is normal in boxers as well.
P.S.S. I am a VERY loving and resposible owner and this is why I am looking for a second opinion!

There is suppose to be a leash law in my town, but the town has a population of about 200 people and no police department. The next biggest town has an animal control officer, but they will not come to our town unless it is a rabid animal or someone has been attacked. My son came back from the bus stop this morning and was in tears saying that a dog was growling at him and trying to bite him. I stopped getting ready for work and walked with him down the road. It was a big Bulldog type dog and it was slowly circling us and growling the whole time. I just made sure that neither of us made any sudden moves. I am trying to find out who the dog belongs too, and when I do I want to confront them about this dog. Since there is a leash law they are not suppose to let their dog roam free, but with no animal control I feel like the dog would actually have to bite someone before the local sheriffs department would do anything. How do I confront the owner when I find them?

I gave them a bath to wash off all the fleas. 2 days later, I gave them Frontline Advantage - that was 1 week ago and the fleas went away after a couple days. Then came back. I was told to give them a bath with Dawn liquid soap. That helped for 2 days... and they are back again. They are mostly indoor dogs and only go outside for the bathroom. The fleas are so bad, the dogs are chewing on themselves and biting off their fur. The Frontline Advantage is suppose to work for 30 days... Can I give it to the dogs again even though it's only been a week and a half? Is there something out there that works better? HELP! I've never had this problem before.

My boyfriends ex wife wants to take their daughters puppy for obedience training.
The daughter doesn't live with us but the puppy does.
The X refuses to have the dog at her house so the daughter sees the pup when she visits my boyfriends house.
If the daughter doesn't live with the dog how can she reinforce what's been learned at obedience school?
If my boyfriend and I reinforce the training then it really won't be the daughter's dog ...will it?
Why would the X want to pay for obedience training for the puppy that she won't allow to live with her daughter?
It doesn't make sense to me.
My boyfriend and I have two very well behaved dogs that we've worked with ourselves - so what's the big deal with the training?

I am very hesistant to ask advice on here because I am finding ppl to be very rude towards the person asking for help, but I am hoping that will not be the case here : ) I recently bought a 12 wk old great dane. Before I got her she was taken to the vet for knee inflamation, she had x rays and nothing was broken. Today was her follow up visit & it turns out she has what he called R.A.C.L which is a problem with her ligament in her knee. I am not able to find much info on this. He said most likely she will need surgery ($3500) when she is full grown. The breeder offered a refund but as you can imagine my family has quickly fallen in love with her. The vet was short staffed & not very willing to talk with me & answer my questions. He did say it is very rare for a puppy to get this. She is due for her last set of puppy shots in 2 wks where I plan on taking her to my vet for a 2nd opinion but if anyone has any suggestions or has experienced this I would love to hear your input/advice.

i have a 3 1/2 year old husky and had him since he was 7 months old. he was abused before we got him.
but my problem is he is tied outside to a 30 foot wire by my drive way infront of the house 24/7 and i am very busy so he is alone so he sleeps all day. but has a house and always has food and water.
so the only time i see him almost is when i walk him everyday for about 3/4 of a mile.
but once and a while like every 1 or 2 weeks or so, he gets free and goes to his friends house and plays with him.

i would like you to say what should i do about his lonleyness or lazyness. does he even know this is a bad life. and what bad does it to him.

He is recovering from being treated for heartworms, which before that he slept ALL the time and was very lethargic. Now ever since we got him home he will not eat and won't sleep. He just paces and stands up all the time and will not even sit down. He will even start to fall asleep while he's standing.

I know this question has been asked before but I have a 6week old Jack Russell female and she is very cute, a real pure Jack Russell and I am stuck at the moment thinking of where she could sleep. Last night she slept on top of the bed with me but luckily I didn't crush her or anything and roll on her. I got a Pedigree guide book with her from the owners and it says in that to leave beside my bed in a cardboard box on its side with a blanket. I tried that and tested her in the box but she always escaped, I also tried the box just standing up and she also escaped. What I wouldn't like happening would be escaping from the box at night and then whining all night wanting to go on the bed or somewhere but can't get back in to the box. The box is actually quite small and she could jump out very easily but it's the only one I have. I need answers quickly because I'm going to bed in about an hour. Any ideas.. thanks.

I rescued a cocker from a very neglectful house. After 3 months he started getting very aggressive and has attacked me a handful of times but never broke the skin. Today for almost no reason at all he attacked my mother biting her on the leg, both hands ,and forearm. She bled from these bites. This is very hard for me to deal with? Would it be better to just put him down? Help me!
