My sheepdog had back surgery and will walk after I pick her up with a sling. She won't try to get up because she is weak. Are there any exercises to strength her? I need some to do with her laying down.

My parents have 2 dogs. They are both approx. 3.5yrs old. Fraiser the dog in
question is a poodle and Sugar is a Pom-a-poo or peek-a-poo (i can never
keep it straight). Sugar has been a very nice little dog, but Fraiser well lets tell
the whole story....
We have been living at my parents house for a few months now. Prior to
moving in we lived near by, so its not like the dogs don't know us.
The first time Fraiser bit my daughter (in the face) we weren't sure what had happened, I don't know if the my daughter did something to provoke the bite.
The first bite didn't break the skin, just a red mark and a scared kid. Problem was that my stepdad (86yr old) scooped up the dog and was petting him saying it was okay, he took the dog to his room and didn’t return (not even to see if my daughter was okay)
The second attack I witnessed. My daughter was sitting on the
floor next to me and Fraiser lunged out from under the table bit my daughter
once in the cheek and then grabbed her by the forehead and began dragging
her under the table, wildly shaking his head back and forth, growling and
snarling the whole time. Fraiser is about 11 lbs and my daughter is 23lbs. He
left two nasty scars, you could tell from the bite on the forehead that he was
out for blood.. there were teeth marks in a circle and two puncture wounds
from the larger teeth... This was a vicious unprovoked attack. I don't know
what if anything I can do.
I do love dogs and have had many dogs over the years, I think I know dogs
pretty well, but this dog I do not trust, there is something about the way he looks
at you.
My stepfathers reaction to the whole thing is that the dog has never turned on him so he doesn’t see the problem, we got the dog a muzzle but the dog doesn’t like it so it’s rarely used (stepdad again) He keeps the dog in his room but it still gets past him occasionally ..that’s considered cute.
I tried giving my parents an ultimatum… I know its their house and all but I did it anyway… The child or the dog. They chose the dog. nice huh. I am being treated as a over-reactive parent??? am I?

And did it work? I bred my female 30 days ago. I gave her a human pregnancy test, and it showed negative. I find it hard to believe that she is not pregnant they tied 3 times.

When I met my husband, his dog was 5 yrs old. Now, 10 yrs. later, this dog is more trouble than she is worth. She is not committed to any member of the family. All she does is look for food to eat (crumbs, from the garbage, out of my kid's hands). We feed her dog food, but she won't eat it until all the lights are off and we're sleeping. then she eats her food. otherwise, she'll wait for whatever she can steal from us. She takes easter candies from the kids, raw meat that i'm defrosting in the sink. and when we walk her, she doesn't go outside, and waits until we get inside and makes a mess.

so, we keep her contained in another room. what life is this for her? what should we do with her?

PS, she growls at my kids (3 yrs. and 1 yr.) if they come close to her for any reason.

My dog is almost a year old and I want to mate her with my moms dog because I want a puppy. I was wondering if she is old enough to have puppies? Like, is it healthy?

He won't take the treat gently from my hand. He grabs them before I can pull my hand back. He has even drawn blood. I have tried many ways to stop him from biting me, but he won't learn. He isn't an agressive dog unless you have a treat in your hand. He curls up his lips, shows his teeth then snatches it from you.

and breed her once or is it healthier to have her fixed before she has her first heat? Some people say its better that they have a litter of pups first others say for "cancer" reasons female dogs should be fixed before a first heat?? My vet suggests fixing her as soon as possible..saying female dogs have a high risk of cancer if allowed to have a first heat. If this is true..how in the world are so many puppies born if all female dogs are to be fixed ASAP?? Advice?

There were some folks (neighbors kids and local adults) here that came to our property. They would sling shot rocks at my dog, and jump at him to make him get so worked up where he is snapping at the air, growling, snarling and barking. This is happening while we are not home or asleep. The kids would walk around here with their heads covered with their hooded sweat shirts. We have reported to the animal control people and the police but they dont do anything but to drive by and see what was going on. They dont do anything, they dont even talk to the neighbors about their unruly and undisapplined kids. My dog bit a child that was a friend, he had his hood on. He was hurt but he will be fine. We were fined and I had just put my dog down Monday due to him being deemed vicious. He was a loyal dog, a very good close family dog. The folks and neighbors tormented him. What could be done legally to help prevent this from happening again?

I got frontline from my vet, and we have always lived in an area where fleas and ticks aren't an issue so I've never used it. We are moving and need to start using it.
I know that you apply it to the skin on the back of the neck, but do you apply it all to the neck, or go down the spine as well?
Thanks a lot!
