When I am walking my labrador and he sees another dog, he will run after it. If he is on the lead he will pull to try and "say hello". I know he just wants to play and greet the other dog, as he is not agressive. However, sometimes the other dog is not as friendly and will try to attack him, and then my dog retaliates. How can I get him to listen to me instead of running off, or pulling, to meet another dog? He does have the opportunity to meet other dogs, he has several "friends", and most of the time I will let him interact. But I would like it to be on my terms NOT his. He is castrated.

My doggie ate a brillo pad and the next moring she was acting really funny. We guessed the brillo pad was bothering her, so we might take her to the vet.

I'm thinking about adopting a dog from a local shelter, but the dog had mange. Is that a big deal. Not to sound shallow or anything but am I going to end up spending a fortune treating it?

It's almost like she is afraid of it. When she does poop it doesn't get off of her butt. She can't seem to sqeeze it off or even shake it off. We have to wipe her clean every time she does go, which is infrequent. HAve you ever heard of this? Is there something we can give her/feed her/do for her? It is kind of disturbing to deal with and also she gets upset. Also, she doesn't like her behind touched or else she cries...Please help her and us....

Okay, so today I am getting my 4 month old Maltese today and I am so excited! But, she is not trained to go to the potty yet.
Okay so for a extra cost it comes with a package.Around $200.
It includes a crate , dog bed, etc.
I know that crate training is a type of housebreaking but I mean how does it work?

On your opinion do you think wee-wee pads or crate training is better?

And how does the crate training work?

Also when do you know when to put her in or does she go in by herself?

I have a big lab and he lives here in the back yard while I am gone to work and doing other things. He is left to entertain himself. I think he gets bored. He has toys of course and loves to walk to the river every day, but I think he could use a companion. What do you think about us rescuing a dog from the pound to be his friend? I noticed there are always a lot of dogs about his age and size in the humane society pound.

I have a female Maltese that I think is pregnant. Her vulva is still slightly swollen still, her breasts under her nipples are slightly swollen, she sleeps all the time, and constantly wants to be right next to me. I brought her to the vet on wednesday (she would have been 36 days/5 weeks along). The vet palpated her and said that he didn't think she was pregnant. However, I read that after 30 days you can no longer feel the pups by palpating, is this true and could it be that the pups are too small and he could have missed them? Also, he did it while she was standing in a normal position, is this right or should the dog be laying down? He also said that she had only gained 3 ounces and if she was pregnant she would have gained more, I read that they don't gain weight until after 5 weeks so what is he talking about? I'm worried that he might not know what he's doing. Should I trust him or find another vet?

We have a 9month old Husky/Labrador. She is still in her chewing stage and we have everything-we think-a rope, bones, Bimples-like a nylabone, and a kong to play with and encourage chewing. She's healthy-all shots-groomed, etc....We take her on 30 minute brisk walks daily, and throw a ball around for her in the yard. She's always full of energy! Sometimes when she lays down to relax on her side she'll have a paw in her mouth. It's cute but what causes that? We've had her since she was 4 months old, and she just recently started doing this. My wife thinks it may be like a pacifier or a security blanket. Any ideas? Thanks!

Dear Pet lovers.... I'm sorry. I know this site is only for questions and answers, but after reading some of the questions in here regarding sick animals, I feel so frustrated that I need to get this out, and hope that I may as a result, help or at least put a suffering animal out of it's misery.

This is a wake-up call that I hope to pass on to pet owners. I am so sick of seeing "what is wrong with my dog"... or "I think my cat is dying". What is wrong with you people????!!! If you had a child that was constantly vomiting, having spasms or bleeding from where ever, would you sit on the computer waiting to get an opinion from us? You have a breathing living soul in your hand who depends on you to help it. Please please stop asking ridiculous questions and take your sick pets to the vet immediately. I beg you!

Can you breed an AKC dog with a CKC dog?
My english bulldog is CKC registered but the only breeders in the area are all AKC. Can you breed the two? If so, would the puppies be registered to AKC or CKC?
First of all, my dog is registered with the Canadian Kennel Club. Second, if you aren't offering advice beneficial to my question, don't post. I do not care about your stance on breeding or anything else for that matter.
My dog is a brendall and I am breeding because I want more than one

Well, I was reading on http://www.doggybling.com/newsarticle.php?id=1098, and I decided to switch over to a different. I'm considering going with a natural, homemade diet, but if I can find a good DRY dog food, then I will be happy as well.

So, recap:
-NO Purina Products
-No menu food products
-Dry food only
