Anyone have a good suggestion for flea treatment for an old dog that can not tolerate flea sprays with pyrethrins (Adams, Hartz, Sargents) . She could not tolerate anything like Frontline.

What about a product like program or revolution? Instead of killing fleas, it affects the lifecycle. Of course it works best if your dog is in a controlled environment (like your house/yard)

Frontline does not contain pyrethrins, it contains Fipronil, and methoprene in the Plus variety.

Generally Frontline, Advantage and Stronghold are the safest of the flea treatments, and the least likely to cause a reaction. This is because extensive testing has been done on them, which is how it has been discovered that Permethrin, a pyrethrin found in many pet shop treatments is not especially effective as a flea treatment, as well as being toxic to cats.
