Look up toy breeds in the akc website. Here is a link:

I am sure you will find what you are looking for here. Good luck.

First off, you shouldn't choose a dog just because it's cute and small. A dog small enough to fit in a regular sized purse is probably going to be very fragile and can easily break bones. They can also easily suffer from hypoglycemia. Chihuahua's are great dogs, and yes, they are small. Be careful to find one within breed standards if you plan on getting one from a breeder. Some breeders will try and trick you into buying a "teacup" chihuahua which is just the runts of the litter or extra small ones. They're more prone to health problems than the ones that are bred within breed standards. Secondly, there are no such things as small golden retrievers. According to the AKC, males are supposed to weigh 65-75 pounds and females are supposed to weigh 55-65 pounds. Some of the smaller breeds are toy poodles, dachshunds, Pomeranian, and shih tzus. Whichever you choose, I wish you the best.

I think they probably have the perfect dog for you at Toys Я Us.

No dog wants to live it's life in a purse. I have 4 Chihuahua's myself. They are very active. They love to go for walks and hate being confinded anywhere except their crate.

Every few weeks I do a fostering of one bought to carry in a purse that suddenly the owner has tired of.

Oh and good luck in finding a Golden Retreiver that will fit in a purse!

I don;t mean to sound nasty. I just love tiny dogs so much for who they are and what they are. It's horrible for them to suddenly be dumped because they are no longer an acceptable accessory.

I'm begging you please don;t get a real living dog until you want one you can walk, play with teach and love as an animal not something to get you noticed. You know it makes sense.

You should get a pocket puggle. (Half Pug Half Beagle)I got one in september and he is the best dog i have ever had. They have a great temperment but still need some excersize..They do bark someimes but with a little training this can be fixed. A pocket puggle is anywhere from 10-12 pounds. A regular puggle is around 20. ON whatever breed you decide ot get, any dog will be great.

Definitely a West Highland Terrier. They're white, cute, and very, very naughty. They make up their own rules and have oodles of personality. Great to cuddle on the sofa or bed. And to wake you up early every morning. x

check at your local animal shelter-the dogs & cats there make the best pets because they are so thankful that you have given them a home. Also look in your local paper if you are looking for specific breeds. Good Luck!
