Dogs need to be fed puppy food throughout pregnancy and lactation, they need the extra calories.

Please get her started on puppy food now, she needs it. She can return to adult dog food when the puppies are fully weaned.

Your dog should be eating a high quality puppy food and receiving a calcium supplement, daily. If the puppies are at least 3 weeks old, you can start offering them soft puppy food or dry puppy food soaked in water or PUPPY formula. (NOT cow's milk which can make them very ill)

If the puppies are less than 3 weeks old, you can get a little puppy bottle and some puppy formula and feed the puppies a bit. This will help take some strain off the mother.

Satin Balls are frequently fed to dogs who are underweight. It can put weight on them quickly, common used for dogs recovering from sickness, before being shown, after pregnancy, etc. You can find many web resources if you do a search for Satin Balls on the internet. Here's a recipe, it should be fed raw. Recipe can be halved.

10 pounds hamburger meat [the cheapest kind]
1 lg. box of Total cereal
1 lg. box oatmeal
1 jar of wheat germ
1 1/4 cup veg oil (could sub. salmon or flaxseed oil)
1 1/4 cup of unsulfured molasses
10 raw eggs AND shells
10 envelopes of unflavored gelatin
pinch of salt

Mix all ingredients together, much like you would a meatloaf.
Divide into 10 quart freezer bags and freeze. Or, form into meatballs and freeze separately on a cookie sheet. Then you can place them all together in a freezer bag to store in the freezer and take out only as many as you need.
Thaw as needed and feed raw!

Try mashed potatoes, and vitamins. It worked with my boxer. In the worst possible situations, I've heard potasium (sp?) injections work well.
