Make sure that they have a shady spot to cool down in, and that they are not left in the heat too long-it is just as hard on their bodies as it is on us, if not harder. Also, keep giving them lots of fresh cool water to drink. Feed them early in the morning before it heats up, and in the evening when it cools down so that they have their appetite back.

You can't give dogs anything to cool them down. To keep them cool, you need to provide proper shelter and water, and really shouldn't leave them out all day in the heat.
What do you mean about eating their food properly?
Do you mean can they stay cool if they don't eat. The answer to that is no. It takes a lot of energy to cool the body down when it is over heated and improper nutrition puts them at extra risk.
If it's hot, put them inside during the day.

I put ice cubes in their water for my dogs, and keep them in the house with the ac on! I only let them out long enough to potty, and let them go out to play later in the evening once it has cooled down!

My dogs have always enjoyed playing with ice cubes in the summer. They lay down and lick them like lollipops or skitter them along the tiles.
