Hello, My female boxer is finally in labor she is 64 days gestation. Before anyone has anything negitive to say like i dont love her (or any other snide remarks) dont bother to answer! I have already contacted my vet and he is not worried. I just want a second opinion.
She is very restless and is nesting she has a little bit of egg white goohy discharge with a little presents of blood. My vet said that it was her cervix dialating and is normal. Is this normal? She dosent act like she is in pain or anything, and puppies are still moving. She was a the vets office yesterday and everything was fine as well. Thanks for all your caring comments.
P.S. When I bred Rottweilers my rotties would have this same thing and i just want to make sure that it is normal in boxers as well.
P.S.S. I am a VERY loving and resposible owner and this is why I am looking for a second opinion!

Sounds just fine- if you've bred rotties before, expect the same general game plan for your boxer- doesn't vary much breed to breed. Good luck- hope all goes well!

I have never bred anything although I have birthed many rescues. I'm sure what your dog id going through is perfectly normal.
It's always good to let your vet know so as he will be prepared if there is an emergency.
Praying all goes well for mama... and for you. I can tell you are concerned.
Please update us with how things went and how many pups she had, boys, girls etc.

Yes they can have mucus that's fine. Has she been panting, digging, etc? I wouldn't worry unless I saw that she had broken water, or was having contractions for a while and not getting anywhere. Do keep an eye on her, keep the towels, paper towels scissors etc ready.
Oh and congratulations!

There is a thick plug of mucous that closes off the cervix and prevents infections etc from entering. Once labor begins the plug breaks up and passes so that is probably what you are seeing.

Its the mucus plug, shouldnt be too long now! I remember when my boxer had pups, it took her about 16 hours. She had 10 pups, which I thought was alot. Good luck!
