I'm temporarily fostering a 1-year-old 8-pound Chihuahua, and I've never had such a tiny dog before. How much and how often should I feed him?

she is three years old and she will not stop barking no matter what I do!! I ignore her, I sternly tell her to stop, I muzzle her rarely (she barks and trys to bite other dogs), I do everything spray water EVERYTHING that training books and other people say to do it does not work....She barks at people all the time just walker bys and she barks nonstop at a dog even when the dog is long gone..she barks all the time when maintenece comes sometimes they can't service us... She is a very nice dog but she hates tall people and has a phobia of any dog larger than her and she is quite small (when she was a puppy she was trampled by a very large dog) What should I do to prevent her from barking?

I have a 4 month old Chihuahua. Recently i was told by someone that "down the line" of the breed of Chihuahuas, they were breed with Papillions. She said every now and then it will show up by a white stripe on the dogs head. My pup has this "white stripe"..but looking on the internet at other pictures of Chihuahuas, most of them have the white stripe too.

Is the lady full of it?
Or is this "saying" true?

Wouldn't matter to me either way..i still love my girl. Just wanted to know the facts. Looked on the net, and couldn't find anything!

Weather u got it from a shelter, found it, or got it form a breeder. If u did get it form the shelter why was it there? If u found it what was its condition?
I have 2 dogs right now. A chow chow and a pit bull.
*We had found our chow in the woods and she was tied up to something and had no food or water. She was very thin. She also had 21 ticks on her and oil. Then we brought her to the vets. Her name was Sally but we didn’t like so we changed her to Cinnamon. When we found her she was 1 ½ and now she is 8. She loves her life. And out of everyone in our family she likes me the most.
*We got our pit from a family member and her 2 pits breed and we got our pit when he was 3-4 weeks old. Only cuz the landlord didn’t want them to have the pit puppies there. And when the momma pit gave birth to the puppies she died. So we had to bottle-feed him. We found out that he also might have leukemia. All of his other siblings have all died 3yrs ago. But he’s the only one alive. And his dad is too.

Can anyone tell me of a "safe site" to write a memorial to my recent loss of a dear pet? I am torn with grief right now, and I think if I can do this for "Peanut", it might help me deal with my loss.
I hope someone is able to help me find a good site with a possible "chat room" to talk to someone else who has recently lost a pet.

i bought my papillon from a pet store in WY. but i know he wasn't from a puppy mill. i've met the breeder that he was purchased from and seen both his mother and father, along with one of his sisters. but people still jump to conclusions and think that i'm such a horrible person for purchasing from a petshop. even when i tell them he's pure breed and i have the papers to prove it. what can i do to stop people from jumping to conclusions. and is it still wrong that i purchased him there?

thanks.

well i first trained him at home. this is what i did:
i had a pocketful of kibble and held some in my hand. i had the leash short but not tight to avoid tension between us. i led him beside me with the kibble in front of his face so he followed it while he was beside me so he knows that walking beside me is good. everything was great at home so then i tried it outside at night were distractions were at a minimum. lucky for me, no one walked past or interfered. when i tried it downstairs, he completely ignored the kibble (still on leash) and looked away listening to every sound there was. i tried it again and again and he did it twice successfully. i rewarded him greatly for those two. then i tried to make him sit beside me which took a lot of effort. once again, he ignored the kibble and i had to make him look at me until he finally sat. i rewarded him greatly for this as well. on the way back upstairs, i tried it and he did it perfectly just like at home and never pulled.

I have read that they are not a truly "natural" breed of dog, and that they are created by the breeding of "runts".
Is any of this true?

I have two very very minature yorkies. They really feel the cold. When the weather is warm they are fine and go into their beds at night time until we wake in the morning but on cold nights they could be scratching the door and barking from midnight on. I don't get up to them so as not to encourage it but we are certain it is from the cold. I bought a big sleeping bag and put it into both beds so it is kind of tucked around them but they still seem to be cold. Any ideas on what I could do. I could put them to bed with their little jackets on but the younger one bounds around a lot and I'd be afraid it would get caught on something. This is a serious question so I'd appreciate serious answers only.

I have a pit bull rotweiler shar pei mix and its been developing this rash that started under its left armpit and its getting bigger. Its skin is red and dry. I did some research and it could be something called SEBORRHEA.. Also she eats eukanuba dog food and recently they changed their bags so they might have changed their formula?

I have heard that pretty much all pet stores get their dogs from puppy mills, I was wondering how true this is? And if it is such a problem shouldn't the government do something to make laws harder on buying dogs. I am just upset, I went into a local pet store the other day and saw a bunch of dogs that had been there since December because apparently no one wanted them and they were pure bred breeds, and I just feel like if these puppies weren't in that environment people would had wanted them. Any thoughts on this, should buying a dog be more regulated, etc. Why is it so easy for these stores to buy dogs from puppy mills and get away with it.
