My dog, adopted just several days prior to first vet visit,
bit our vet, who then went to an urgent care clinic here in
So California for stitches. The dog was agitated by the barks
and screams of the other dogs at vet office. The vet personally
will not hold this against me but he was required by the doc at
clinic to report the bite to the doc, who then reported it to the
county here in Los Angeles. Does that mean the county will
come and take my dog and euthanize him? I hope not.
What are the laws?

I have a 6 week old pit bull puppy that I want to start training. I want her to walk beside me both on and off the leash as well as sittin calmly at the door instead of bolting out when the door is open. I also want to train her to protect me by taking a weapon away from an attacker and bring it to me then go back and attack and hold the attacker.

How can I get her to stop? We have tried "no", tugging back on her collar, smacking nose w/ newspaper, and the squirt bottle. She always thinks we are playing - she is 8 months old now and needs to stop. She scratches, and it hurts! Any ideas?

My 12 month old Samoyed Male 'shakes' when he is excited. It is mainly his back legs, and his mouth (his teeth look like they are chattering). Is this normal or should I be worried. He has always done it and is otherwise healthy and active.

I have a 11 week old Maltepoo and he has peed on my bed twice. I would love to keep him off of my bed but we live in a studio style apt so it is impossible to "shut the door". I take the dog out about every 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. When the dog goes outside he takes care of his buisness right away and wants to go back inside. How can I make my dog whine or bark when he has to go potty? I'm so stressed out by this puppy and don't know what to do! He is crate trained and won't pee/poop inside of it, but I can't keep him locked up all day and night. There has to be a better way.

Crate training my new 10 week old toy miniature schnauzer. So far she has been good sleeping in her crate from about 12-6. My question is, if she is already sleeping at 10, is it a good idea to wake her up, take her outside again around 11 or 12, or just let her stay asleep? Would that likely lead to an accident if she is in her crate for that long?

He has been a wonderful vet for the last 15 yrs, but he is getting up there in the years and I am afraid my lab is so frisky, he will knock him down or be too rough. I really need a new vet, but would really like the old one to see my dog still. Should I just look in the yellow pages?

i went on vacation and left our dog with the vet for boarding, while we were gone they said our dog vomited a little blood --which he has never done before he is a year and a half toy poodle. they said they found nothing wrong with him but put him on this anyway . 250 mg of metronidazole the same thing they put humans on for tricimonisis. isnt it a little odd we didnt find this out until after we picked him up from the vet. shouldnt they have called to see if this was okay? and if they didnt find anything why was he prescribed a medication. i also found on the internet this med isnt fda approved for dogs. what do i do know PLEASE HELP mad as hell at my vet !!!!!! i feel we have been lied to.. this is my sons dog can you imagine if something had happend to his pet!!

its spring time, and like most dogs, our husky is shedding. but it seems to be shedding its outter coat.

is this normal???? shes 1 years old. but her outter thick coat is comming out, and her very very thin undercoat is showing

is this "blowing"?

she recently gave birth to 7 so her breasts are big.

here is a pic

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z138/lakersfan7/IMG00035.jpg

as you can see, the black is the undercoat, but the outter coat ( the grey and white) is shedding in chunks

K i need some major help from all you breeders out there. I have the stud, and he's currently at the breeders for a few days. We're breeding BOXERS but for some reason my boy will NOT mount her or isnt interested at all. She's just finishing up her ht, the breeders even tryed to get involved as this is needed sometime. But then he backs away. The funny thing is the female keeps trying to hump him...WHAT isnt it usually the other way around LOL
My boy is close to me and these where new ppl to him do you think that he still just might be nervous? Or is it possible that he could careless. He is 2 now but still playfull and childish u could say. As boxers are puppys forever it seems. :)
Any info would be greatly appriated as we're running out of time.
Thanks in advance

Can anyone offer advice on what I should do regarding irresponsible dog owners who choose to allow there dogs off the lead even though they have no control what so ever over there dogs?

I own a 5year old staffy ***** she attended obedience school at the age of 17 weeks old & scored 90% on her test day she lost out cos she sat when she should have remained in lie down position, any way when she is taken for walks she is always kept on “extending lead”
Even though shes none aggressive towards other dogs or ppl
But she has been attacked twice in last 3 weeks by dogs being walked by there irresponsible owners off there leads, once by a rottie & the other day by a “staffy” (which looked like it was on steroids), the last attack I was walking our dog and I was so scared when I saw this other staff charging at us that I picked mine up,it was so scary trying to keep my dog up so the other staff couldn’t “lock on” to her, I was so exhausted I ended up falling backwards with my dog still in my arms and looking up I just saw a (mass ov teeth) lunging towards us don’t ask me how cos I haven’t got a clue what made me to do what I did next it just happened?

I shoved my hand into the other staffs mouth and grabbed it by the tong WHEN THE OWNER EVENTUALLY reached us he had the cheek to say that his dog only went for mine because I picked my dog up? Which is a load of bull, if I hadn’t picked my dog up she would have been ripped apart by this other staffyL

But since the last attack I haven’t been able to walk my dog at all as im to scared toL
Do u think its fair irresponsible dog owners who cant control there dogs using even basic command walk there dogs on leads

He is 7 months, and right now my husband and I are keeping him confined in a doggy crater for few hours then we let him eat and right after he eats we take him outside to "let it go". But when we take him out he does nothing. So he has not pee pee or "the other thing" every since 4pm on 4-14-07 and it is now 5:53pm. So basically, we do not let him run free in the house until he goes outside, he stays in his crater.

But when we first got him we were told he was house broken, but I guess they thought house broken was when he only wants to pee in the house and not outside.
