We sure do live in a sue happy world now a days don't we? People always wanting to sue someone over something.

Your dog is alive and well correct? That is all that matters. You are just lucky that your dog didn't have anything seriously wrong with him, what with you buying it from a petstore (puppymill) and all. It was probably hypoglycemic
You aren't out any money except for maybe an office visit.
You told your vet the dog wasn't eating or drinking..the vet said it would die...of course it will die if it continues to not eat or drink.

First chihuahua's are a little differebnt thanother dogs. A lot of chi's can';t for example get there lepo shot with the first. This is something my sister found out. These small breed dogs have different problems than many of the others.
You should try to find a vet that know chihuahuas. like many other answers say you can't sue for an opinion.
Now let me try to help you a little if you don't mind. My sister breeds chi's and therefore I've learned a lot form her. 1st I hate to repeat this but yes pet shops get from puppymills and quite often they are going to have a lot of problems.
Chihuahuas are known for low blood sugar. you should always have nutrical on hand. also in teh dogs water add karo syrup about a teaspoon to a pint of water this will help with any sugar drops. also many chisa because of their size should have food at all times as agan the sugar.
Good luck with you're pup

They said he was going to die? did they say why he was going to die? Because I dont think a vet would do a clinical examination on your pet and tell you he was going to die with out giving the diagnoisis aswell.
Did they do XRAYS, ultra sounds, bloods or any other tests to determine what was wrong with him?
Also if all you had to do was get him vitamins it means the reason he was sick is because of his diet. ie, what you feed him.
Dogs and cats usually get all the vitamins they need from their diet, so if they are sick of start doing perculiar things like licking bricks or copper pipes around your house it usually means they are lacking in a particular viatmin.
Licking bricks is usually for salt or iron.

Dont sue. You wont win. And if you do it will probably just be enough to cover the bill.

Good Luck!

No, I would just be grateful that my dog is okay and I would never use that vet again. I would also advise your friends not to use him. Suing is more of a headache then it is usually worth when the end result is that your dog is fine. Your vet's lawyer could argue that the dog's condition changed. It is also a judgement call on your vet's part. It is very hard to win in a case like this. If your dog had died and your vet did not treat him, then you might have a case. For now, just be happy with your dog and forget that vet.

First mistake you made was buying a dog from a pet shop. Be prepared for more medical issues. These dogs are poorly bred from unhealthy parents. You can't sue because you most likely signed a paper saying you are responsible for the dog. But if it was within a week, usually they will pay for vet bills. Just don't ever buy a dog from a petshop, you might as well just start throwing your money down the toilet.

No they gave you an opinion, it is your right to get a second opinion, while I don't know if you actually have a legal case to sue as I'm not a lawyer, I think its ridiculous that you would even consider suing. What would you sue them for, pain and suffering, emotional distress, things are going to happen in life that are upseting you can't just sue because they upset you. You didn't agree with their diagnosis you got a second opinion, end of story. You may want to consider a different vet in the future though.

Why would you sue your veterinarian for doing his job?

And why did you purchase your dog from a petstore in the first place? Pet stores obtain their dogs from puppy mills, so of course the critter was sick. Most puppy mill dogs are going to end up with genetic problems due to the overbreeding and inbreeding of those dogs in captivity.

If you really want answers, try giving us real information. What did the pet store say your dog was ill with? What did the vet say your dog was going to die from? What do you mean by "vitamin pills"? If your pup was ill, vitamins would not cure him by any means, but in the future could help prevent certain symptoms.

I don't think you can really sue for that but you should probably take your dog to a different vet. If that one said he was going to die and a pet store gave you medicine and vitamins and that's all he needed...yeah a different vet. I would be devastated too if that happened with my dog.

NO! I think you would be taking it too far. If i were you I would tell the owner of the vet office about what happened and the vet that helped you out will never help you out again. You know what im sayin

No way!! Vets can be wrong sometimes to and you can't sue for any emotional damages when it involves a pet anyway.
