K i need some major help from all you breeders out there. I have the stud, and he's currently at the breeders for a few days. We're breeding BOXERS but for some reason my boy will NOT mount her or isnt interested at all. She's just finishing up her ht, the breeders even tryed to get involved as this is needed sometime. But then he backs away. The funny thing is the female keeps trying to hump him...WHAT isnt it usually the other way around LOL
My boy is close to me and these where new ppl to him do you think that he still just might be nervous? Or is it possible that he could careless. He is 2 now but still playfull and childish u could say. As boxers are puppys forever it seems. :)
Any info would be greatly appriated as we're running out of time.
Thanks in advance

just to clarify he does like the female...all he wants to do is play even when they're left alone. ;)

So I am assuming that this was his first time?
Probably would have been better to bring the ***** to him in familiar surroundings.
I looked around the internet, and found this website that charges a small fee to answer your breeding questions.
You should give it a try....

Believe it or not some males just have no interest in breeding.
I know many breeders. Some who have paid several thousand dollars for a high quality dog for the show ring and for breeding. He's preformed brilliant in the showring, but just could not get it done in the bedroom.
It's nothing at all about being gay (rolls eyes) It's just not for him. Some dogs like some people have very low or non exsistant sex drives.
It also could be too late in the females heat if it's near the end. I'm no breeder, but I believe it's something like day 13 and day 15 they should be bred. (Please double check that) If it's too late he won;t be interested either.
Most males over 10 months (some even well younger) are capable of breeding even though they should be over a year before it's tried the first time. At 2 he's plenty old enough.
I suggest just giving up on it this time. If you really want to breed him do loads of research before you try again. If next time you know the timing is right etc and nothing still happens have him neutered. Un-neutered males who are not breeding run a very high risk of many cancers. There is no point in leaving him intact if he can;t breed.
It maybe even a good thing that nothing has happened as so many dogs are in shelters that need a loving home. Each new puppy born takes away their chance of living. This maybe also something else you need to think about before trying again.

It may be too early or too late in her heat cycle. The female is more receptive dring the last of the second week, about days 10-14. Also it is always best to have the female come to the male. The female is in heat and should do okay even in a strange environment, but a male should be in a place he is comfortable in. Good luck. Maybe next time around things will go better if it doesn't work out this time.

The first thing you did wrong was take the male to the female. Second thing you did wrong was to take your dog to a breeder that should have known this. Male are nervous when taken to the female as the female don't give a hoot where she is breed. What I see here you nor the breeder don't know what you are doing..so I really think you should read up more on this. There is a lot more to this then put a male and a female together and Poof puppies.

there could be several reasons.
he doesn't care
she was to far along in teh heat.
he was nervous in a new surroundings.
my self I would never just leave the dog first I would stay so the dog feels more comfortable or bring the female to my house.
Some dogs just don't want to bother.
and yes sometimes they seem to be mixed up
teh female will mount the male or sometimes you'll see a male and male or female and female nothing new .
not knowing everything if the female was busy mounting him i wonder if it was to late.
a female that is ready will often just keep backing her hind end into the males face . alos when he sniffed her she should have flagged if she was ready.

He could have a medical condition. Thyroid might be off... maybe the ***** is just not as ready as everyone thinks? Was she progesterone tested? What day is she on?
I have seen females who flag and act ready and would be willing but a good stud dog knows when they are ready and will not breed until the time is perfect.

If he doesn't want to mate w/ her, then she is already past the point she needs to be. She is at the end of her cycle and is not putting off the hormones that the males smell and he doesn't realize it is time to do business. Also, other people were correct in the fact that if you are watching, then he probably won't do it anyways. Besides, breeding is a GIANT headache and takes hours of research and testing to make sure that everyone is healthy and of the best breedable quality.

He's probably just not ready yet. Sounds like the female has bred before, and that's why she's trying to get him started (btw, it is best if at least one of the pair has done this before). You can try to "help" him get started, maybe the light bulb will go off, but it sounds like he just needs to mature a bit. He'll probably "get" it the next time around.

It could be that he doesnt like the female or it could be he is not in the mood.
The environment is also a factor..it should be quiet just like a human's..

Boxers are puppies forever; yes he could be nervous, maybe everyone is watching and fusing. He might need a calm, quiet
secure,smaller environment.
