I went out if town and left my dog with this lady who has 4 beagals and he ended up getting some type of fungal infection from the other dogs and lost his hair in that area. The vet just gave us ointment to put on him and it went away. Also they can lose their hair for many other reasons....like an allergy...I would take him to the ve...and I wouldnt listen to any other answers unless it was from a professional:) Good luck!

I also have a boxer who showed similair symtoms. I tried numerous foods until I found one that did not cause excessive hair loss and welts under the skin. Many boxers cannot tolerate foods based with beef. In our case, lamb and chicken were out too. I have been feeding a salmon based food for the last year and my dog has a shiny full coat and is healthy and happy.

Normal shedding or balding? Shedding is normal for just about any breed but balding could be mange or a fungal infection that needs to be treated by the vet. If it is just in small patches on either side it could also be a flea infestation. I would make an appointment with the vet asap.

If the pattern on both sides is the same and the dog isn't itchy, it may be from a thyroid condition or hormonal condition. Your vet should be able to rule out common infections, parasites and allergies and run appropriate tests. Sometimes you have to go through all of these tests to finally determine the cause...symptoms can be very similar for all of them.

Loosing hair? Sounds like a good possibility of mange. Get him to the vet ASAP. Some mange is genetic. Some mange is contagious even to humans. Other possibilities... fleas, skin fungus, or even an alergy.

People here on answers can only guess what the problem is. It could be allergies, ringworm, mange, etc. Take him to the vet for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

My dog had the same problem. The vet said it was food allergies & I had to stop feeding him table scraps. He could only have lamb and rice dog food.

See a vet. It could be anything from mites, allergies, fleas, ringworm, all made worse the longer you wait.

I HAVE MIN PINS AND RAN INTO A SIMILAR PROBLEM. THE BEST ADVISE IS TO GO TO THE VET. MY DOG HAD ALLERGIES TO THE GREEN DYE IN HIS SHAMPOO AND ALLERGIES TO THE MORNING DEW. YOUR VET CAN RUN TESTS TO FIND OUT THE PROBLEM AND TREAT IT SO YOU AND YOUR PET WILL BOTH FEEL BETTER .
