I think I'd be more worried about one of my own dogs not being able to find a forever home than a silly little guinea pig

I dont think you should give one of your dogs away over a guinea pig a dog is worth more than a guinea pig. it's not fair to your dog who has been there first and loves you.if you had 3 kids and wanted another one badly and longing it for 2 years would you be so harsh to consider giving one of your kids up because you can only afford 3 kids and not 4? i mean its kinda like the samething when you get a dog its for life not for xmas or 3 years or 1 or whatever its for their whole lives.and the fact that you came on here asking that tells me you really dont care about your dogs much.

That would be very cruel to the dog. Stop & think about it!! What does a guinea pig have to do with having a dog? When we get an animal it is suppose to be for the life of the animal. I could not imagine getting rid of a dog after getting it!! That dog has feelings!!!!!

ummm it is silly to get a pet simply to give one up. Do you want your pet to end up in a high kill shelter all because you wanted a guinea pig? this is silly. And you can't say..."oh i would make sure it went to a good home.." How...because you konw the person or because you charge a fee? Then what happens when a few years down the road the "good home" has a life changing event and can no longer keep the dog.....then what. Are you going to make sure that you stay in contact with the new owner and their lifestyle etc. This is just not acceptable keep the dog. Watch this it may change your mind about "giving up" your dog: http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=yadkin_county

No you should not get rid of one of your dogs. It is not responsible and it is not what someone would do if they truly loved their dogs. Dogs are not throw aways because you want something else, once you have one you are responsible until it's natural end. I do dog rescue and foster care and i see so many dog euthanized because of people who did the same thing as you. You can always get a Guinea Pig oneday but not at the cost of innocent dog.

Seriously if you have to ask yourself this question then I don't think you should any pets at all!
How could you seriously contemplate getting rid of a dog "you love" for a guinea pig.
Maybe someone else should be taking care of all your pets, maybe they'll be loved the right way and their owners won't have to decide to "trade" them in for a flippin' guinea pig!!

you're selfish
why would you give away a pet that you already have (do you think someone really wants your unwanted pet)

what will happen if you change your mind on the guinea pig after you've owned it for a while?

Guinea pigs need to have their cage cleaned more every day or every other day. they scream, they toss litter all around their cage, Their size will tempt your dogs natural hunting instincts.

i'd wait if i were you

You've got a lot of pets to take care of already. if I were you, I would hold off on the guinea pig. But while you're waiting for a 'pet space' to open up, you could be studying about guinea pigs so you will know how to take care of them when you do get one!

If you love your dogs like you say you do never get rid of one it would be like losing part of yourself. Guinea pigs are fun but they aren't nothing compared to a dog. I am speaking as a dog owner and as a former guinea pig owner. You can't talk to a G.P. like you can a dog and you can't really hold a G.P. and cry on it when you need a hug ---they would just poop on you---stick with your dogs and then if anything ever happened to one of them then think on getting something else.

No, don't get rid of your dogs, they are a part of your family.
Wait and see if the desire for a guinea pig gets stronger or dies down. Give yourself another 6 months, then get one if you really want one. On no account get rid of your dogs though.
