I have a 4 month old Chihuahua. Recently i was told by someone that "down the line" of the breed of Chihuahuas, they were breed with Papillions. She said every now and then it will show up by a white stripe on the dogs head. My pup has this "white stripe"..but looking on the internet at other pictures of Chihuahuas, most of them have the white stripe too.
Is the lady full of it?
Or is this "saying" true?
Wouldn't matter to me either way..i still love my girl. Just wanted to know the facts. Looked on the net, and couldn't find anything!

I have never heard of Chihuahuas being bred with Papillions! The absolute best place for getting information on Chihuahuas is at yahoogroups. I used to have a Chihuahua named Chalupa and got lots of valuable information from http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Chihuahua/
There are several great groups full of Chihuahua owners and you'd do well to join some.

Chihuahua is a very old breed I would say it would be more likely that papillions were originally bred with chihuahuas but I don't know. I would check AKC.org

A chihuahua papillon mix would look like this http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/chion.htm
Don't put any stock into what your friend says. Its just like the fanatics who will disown a lab if they have white on their chest. With continuous slected breeding certain traits begin to become more prominent and it has nothing to do with another breed mixed in.
I still have people that come to my clinic and swear that Shar-peis were bred with pigs long ago... idiots...haha

Hm I'm not sure if your puppy was bred by Papillons unless she did it herself. My puppy is actually a Papillon/Chihuahua mix. He looks like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v609/maecortes/Photo49.jpg
Yeah. He doesn't look like a Papillon nor does he look like a Chihuahua..and he is definitely far from what looks like the picture on Dogbreedinfo.com (or whatever that site was)...

she is so full of it !! Where did she get her info from ? You should have asked her . I have 2 chihuahuas . you could not find anything on this cause it is not true . some ppl are so full of bad news they just have to pass it on to make them sound intellegent ,when in fact they are just plain ignorant . this kind of stuff makes me mad . good luck to you and your baby .

I prefer hair that will is shoulder length or longer, And also since that men who like ladies are more often then not directly, they like long hair because it looks more feminine, as most males have short hair.

Not true. That lady is either full of it or she was given misleading information that made her think what she was telling you was purely fact.

pappilons do have the stripe, but they also have longer hair, which is prolly where the long-haired chihuahua came from, i'd say the she's on the right track.
