Weather u got it from a shelter, found it, or got it form a breeder. If u did get it form the shelter why was it there? If u found it what was its condition?
I have 2 dogs right now. A chow chow and a pit bull.
*We had found our chow in the woods and she was tied up to something and had no food or water. She was very thin. She also had 21 ticks on her and oil. Then we brought her to the vets. Her name was Sally but we didn’t like so we changed her to Cinnamon. When we found her she was 1 ½ and now she is 8. She loves her life. And out of everyone in our family she likes me the most.
*We got our pit from a family member and her 2 pits breed and we got our pit when he was 3-4 weeks old. Only cuz the landlord didn’t want them to have the pit puppies there. And when the momma pit gave birth to the puppies she died. So we had to bottle-feed him. We found out that he also might have leukemia. All of his other siblings have all died 3yrs ago. But he’s the only one alive. And his dad is too.

I got my dog Buster from a lady who was giving the puppies away. They were accidently born to a full blooded mother and a half-breed father.(To her, they were worthless)....your loss, my gain....after 7 years with him, he has turned into one of the smartest and most loving dogs I have ever had....
I have usually gotten all my animals from people who were just giving them away for free.
Yesterday, I did something I can say I am proud of doing....I went to the pound and adopted two dogs that I am sure will bring a lot of joy and happiness into our home.
God's creatures: Great or Small are all loved by Him.
Thanks to the people like you, Cinnamon and the other dog are fortunate to have a loving person as their owner.
Good luck with all your pets!

Congrats on your two pups and glad you have them! I came about mine in a similar way. I have three. The eldest is about six now and she was a pound puppy. She had been the sole survivor of a litter that had been found in a ditch in a sack partially in water and they appeared to have been thrown from a car. She had a lot of phobias to overcome and she was weird looking with a stringy tail and tiny face, long body. She looked like something from a Dr. Suess book but she turned out beautiful with a soft, thick and plush coat and a bushy tail now. She is an Australian Shepherd mix.
The second was also a pound puppy. She was from a litter born in a yard and the owner simply didn't want to deal with the puppies and took them to the city pound. She is an Anatolian Shepherd mix.
The third was a pit bull from a litter of fourteen and the owner just wasn't prepared to take care of an unexpected litter so she was taking the pups to the pound at 21/2 wks old where they would have been put to sleep. We took this one, the runt and I bottle fed and raised her. She is such a doll and so smart. I am glad we could save her and I am glad you saved your dogs!

My Pit Bull belonged to my brother who past away. My brother was diagnosed with a very rare cancer and his last request was for a Pit Bull puppy. So I got the puppy from a breeder. That dog was my brother's saving grace for the next 3 years. Toward the end my brother was worried he would leave by myself if he died and he did not want that. So he decided he was going to get me a puppy just like I did to help him. He spent months trying to find me a male yellow English Lab. He finally found a beautiful one that was very ill due to overbreeding (puppy mill kinda a thing). My brother's dream was to do dog rescue so he convinced me that if I rescued this puppy than I would help his dying dream, save a puppy, and have a huge blessing. So I did. For the next 3 months my brother and me raised and nutured this puppy until my borther past away. It was the last thing we did together and my Lab is one of my biggest blessings. He saved my life and helped my brother's dog come out of depression after my brother died. My brother knew some how what the future held and how much his dog and I would need that puppy.

The day after my champion Whippet died at 14 of cancer, I went to our local Whippet Specialty show.....I was showing my dog's son for his owner.....and I saw a really lovely black and white Whippet pup. I've always wanted a black Whippet. I asked if they would give her to me (friends of mine, I was kidding) and they said NO LOL !

Then I saw another mostly black Whippet puppy I went and petted that one and found out she was for sale. I talked to the breeder, but when she found out I lived in a condo, she cooled off to me.

By the third day of the shows, the breeder had talked to other long-time Whippet people about me and they all said what a wonderful owner I was and that I took excellent care of my dogs (they'd all passed away from old age).

So she said if I still wanted her I could have her. She let me take her that day with no money or papers signed. She trusted me. I wanted to try Cara out and see how she'd do as a condo dog. Cara was 12 weeks old.

Cara is still here and recently I got her lovely black and white 1/2 sister, the same one I'd seen first. Her owner had an ill dog and couldn't keep her at his house. So I co-own Misty with the breeder and the first owner. All nice people.

I had to sign contracts and agree to test both dogs extensively if we all decided they are good enough to breed. Cara was originally graded as a pet, they were going to sell her on a spay/neuter, but they changed that as they trust me to know if she's turned out better than expected. She is my performance dog. Very fast, very agile, not a great show dog. Misty is the show dog, but also competes at other events. Cara will probably be spayed at 18 months old.
Misty, if she turns out really nice may be bred. She has to have all her tests done just like her sire and dam.

Misty has her first title already, Jr. Courser and she will be running at events in between shows.
Misty's first owner is the man I got my very first Whippet from over 20 yrs ago :) He's a judge and wrote one of the major books on Whippets.

Misty and Cara have the same sire and different dams. They are really great dogs and I am enjoying taking them to many different competitions.

We do conformation shows, lure courses, races, and we'll do obedience and rally obedience later and maybe agility and flyball. I see some of their littermates and the breeder often.
I'm now friends with the breeder and we are going to a show together in a couple of weeks.

My first dog we got was a female shepherd & husky mix. Her name is 'Nami'. We got her from one of my moms neighbors. They had several dogs that they should have never had. She came from a litter of pups that had come a shepherd female. There was several males. They told me which one was the father, but you couldn't tell. My puppy looked like one of the other males on the property. When we got her, she was barely 6 weeks old. We got her home and took her to a vet, because if we hadn't she would have died. Now she is a happy and loving 3 year old. My second dog is a male miniature pinscher ( minpin). His name is Skittlebug. I bought him from a breeder that shouldn't have ever been a breeder ( back yard breeder more like it.) I felt more like I was rescuing him. He wasn't in the greatest shape, the cage she kept him in was outside and it was nasty. It was just shortly after winter and it was still a bit nippy outside. He was 11 weeks old then. He just turned 2 in February of this year. He is in excellent health and now a father himself. My third dog is a female minpin. Her name is ' All Powerful Promising Piper' ( Piper for short). I bought her from a different breeder. Completely different experience when you get a dog from a good breeder that cares about their dogs. I got her in September 2006. She is a ham and she smiles all the time. She was 2 when I got her, she turned 3 in March. Now I have a litter of 4 healthy and happy five week old pups. The breeder had her as a breeding dame, but nothing ever took. When I brought her home, she went around behind my male and hiked her leg where he hiked his leg. I figured that she just thought she was one of the guys, especially being around several males all the time. Now she is around my one male. She has quit hiking her leg and squats like a girl now. She is a mother now of the same 4 puppies I mentioned above. I take her and my male to the park several times a week, but not while she was nursing. Puppies are 5 weeks old and almost weaned from mom now. In another year or two, the breeder wants to try again to get a litter from her. She says because she has had all the vet checks and she has such a wonderful personality. She is very layed back. She only barks and growls when she feels threatened or sees strangers. All together my dogs are wonderful to have around. I love each and every one of them. They are so spoiled. My husband says I do more for them than I do for him, but I think he is exaggerating just a bit.

I too got my baby out of the woods, she was found by a hunter. He thought she was a baby raccoon that had been abandonded. There was no sign of the other puppies or the mother. She was just kind of THERE. His wife would not let him keep her so I got her. She is the best dog that ever lived, in my opinion.

I got my Lab from a wonderful breeder. Her father is a double champion (field and show) and the Dam parents were both champions (field). She's the best dog ever. Kudos to you for your rescues. Very commendable.

I got my older dog (who is 11 now) when we went to visit friends and our female got hooked up with their male! He was the only survivor of his litter. We got our other dog, a now two year old Am Staff/Rotti from a woman who had a pure rotti who had a "romance" with the neighbors purebred Am Staff! She was selling them but we got ours free because he was the runt! Not anymore. He outgrew all his litter mates!

All of our dogs have been adopted, or rescued.
Two black Labs.
One Schnauzer.
One Mix.
In the past, rescued, a Dalmation, greyhound, beagle.
NEVER did I pay for a dog!!
I cannot see paying for a dog, when you can get a perfect dog or cat from your local shelter, or organization.
THEY ALL NEED LOVING HOMES.
ADOPT!!
