She doesn't have fleas, it's about 1 1/2 in. long. It's not bleeding but the fur is gone from that area. She sometimes nudges it with her nose or licks it, but she doesn't bite it.

i want to get a girl golden or a girl german shepherd, i hear that german shepherds have a soft side a are pretty good family dogs, but i hear that goldens are the idel family dog with and all forgiving personallity. over all i want a dog that will protect me if i need it to, but will still be kind to my 4 and 6 year old cousins that visit every weekend or so, and thplayed with had never been near an animal of any kind before, they will play, ruff house, and just might squeze her ears, and will still have a good sense or humor.

damage. He doesn't see or hear well and is absolutely untrainable but very sweet. i can't give him to the shelter here b/c there is no way he would be adopted. he lives on a chain because i can't afford a pen. he is fed and watered regularly and we take him camping and to the lake in the summer. he is thin but not emaciated by any means. someone called the humane society and they said he is malnourished and his living conditions are unfit. i don't believe he's malnourished b/c i've seen him eat EVERY DAY. he eats more than my other dog who is twice his size. The humane society isn't doing anything but it got me thinking maybe we should "put him out of his misery" as so many have suggested. i wish i could find him a farm to live on but i've tried and he's just not the kind of dog anyone but me seems to want. please weigh in with your opinions!!

I remember when I was 12 I wanted a dog SO bad. I went to my local mall and saw the cutest dog, a Pekingnese pup. My mom spent 1,000 on him. His name is Gizmo. I NEVER knew about puppy mills/petstores back then. I was 12 years old. You can tell my dog came from a puppy mill; he chews the ends of blankets like hes suckling (I'm guessing from being taken away from his mom too early), hes aggressive towards everyone when he was VERY WELL socialized and just doesnt listen when he has been to obedience school. Don't get me wrong, I still love him no matter what. But I feel so bad that 6 years ago I contributed to a PuppyMiller making 1000$ more to breed another dog. So as long as you keep a dog in a cage with food/water in a shed thats OKAY? I don't get it. I really don't. And the most they get if its really bad is a slap on the wrist.

Is there ANY way to stop these Puppymills?
(I don't mean to get everyone wriled up, this is a serious question)

Hello,Back in November I went to the pound to adopt our second dog and while i was there my heart broke at the sight of all those homeless animals so I decided that once our new pet got settled we would look into fostering another dog. We did that and now have had her for about 2 months. Over the past two months the rescue and I have placed ad after ad for this sweet dog and not one response. The funny thing is we don't even state a price or anything in the ads. She is an adorable dog, obidence trained, fully housebroken, good with kids, and other animals. She is only 3 years old and I can't figure out why we have not had even one inquiry about her. Does anyone have any experience with this or any advice? She is currently listed on craigslist.org in louisville under pets catahoula leopard dog named Patches. She is just so great I can't understand why noone is even curious about her.

Min. pin., jack terrier mix, about a year and a half old. He's been acting strange all morning. Will not move at all, he's shaking and he snaps at me when I try to pet him. Last night he was his normal playful self and this morning he's like this.

He has had his shots and I quit feeding him dogfood several weeks ago.

My 3 year old dog has been fat all her life and everytime I eat she begs for food and she puts her chin all over me and the first year we had her she ate everything in my easter basket beside one thing my sister saved. We play and walk her a lot and she has rolls and she went to the vet in august and she was 2 then and weighed 83 pounds and she's 3 now. She is very hyper is their anyway we can make her lose a few pounds or is she supposed to be this way? She is a chcoclate lab. She's about 3 ft. tall from floor to head.

I used to have a female staffy and when she came in season she mounted the other females and even used to squirt during it which i have never seen in all of my years of breeding dogs. she used to stand for the male but as soon as he got in her she would shoot away or try to bite him.

My dog just died at the age of four...and i just happend when they started that stuff about the dog food. The vet had told us that she was going to be fine. This was after paying $400 and then the vet had called and said that she had to be brought back in and then told us that she isnt doing good and would have to prob be put down...$200(im not bringing up money because this dog was loyal and would be worth any amount of money) but they had to put her down. I dont understand why they would tell us one thing then the next day tell us something else. Should we try and fight a case to pay for medical bills or what. I dont understand. So Confused Please Help

I have a pregnant dog. I have asked two different vets whether or not i should give a multi vitamin to her. one vet said i should start to give her a multi vitamin at 5 weeks of pregnancy. the other vet said no that when you give a pregnant dog a multi vitamin it could make them hypoglycemic. i have no idea what to do i have two vets telling me two totally different things. if someone has any advice i would appreciate it.
