Min. pin., jack terrier mix, about a year and a half old. He's been acting strange all morning. Will not move at all, he's shaking and he snaps at me when I try to pet him. Last night he was his normal playful self and this morning he's like this.
He has had his shots and I quit feeding him dogfood several weeks ago.

Thank you all for your answers. We took him to the vet, he'll be ok. He's not sick, he has suffered some kind of injury to his hind leg. We don't know how, that's another mystery, but he'll be fine in a few days.
To clear up a misunderstanding, I quit feeding him wet dog food after the news of contaminated food, he gets dry food, ground beef, eggs and soup bones. The vet says that's fine and we can start feeding him wet food again.

It sounds like he is in some kind of pain. Maybe he hurt himself last night and you weren't aware of it. My border collie has done that before. He'll be fine then the next day he's stiff and won't move (he doesn't get snappy, though). We have wood floors and he's been known to slip and fall when he gets excited! Maybe your dog did something like that. I'd leave alone for a little while - just keep an eye on him and let him rest. If he doesn't seem to be getting better then call your vet. Good luck!

Is there any chance he could have eaten a bit of an illegal substance,h**h. It happened to me a few years ago. I thought the dog had had a stroke. She cowered away from me like I was some awful abuser and wouldn't eat or drink for about 2 days. I did contact the vet who checked up and said that weren't any fatalities listed. The treatment was t l c until back on this planet. She went on after with no side effects.

that poisoned dog food is a possiblity, also, maybe he isn't feeling well, how is his nose? WEt or dry? That tells if a dog is sick... also, have him checked out by a vet, it could be some painful infection of sumthing under his fur! It could be hip displactia like with my own dog!

Take him to the vet! Even if the dog does have their shots, it can still have a virus or something, and if theis is not normal for the dog to act this way, take it to the vet immediatly, you may not have much time!

You might want to call your vet because he might be hurting pretty bad if he's snapping and shaking like that. If the vet says to bring him in, do it.

I'm glad you're taking him to the vet, these are very obvious signs of pain/illness in a dog.

Take him to the vet now. Something is wrong. Any delay could make the situation worse.
