She doesn't have fleas, it's about 1 1/2 in. long. It's not bleeding but the fur is gone from that area. She sometimes nudges it with her nose or licks it, but she doesn't bite it.

well make sure she dont lick it or bit it nudging is alright cuz if the sore is a ping or redish color it just came up if it is brownish blackish then take her to a vet cuz it is probobly very infected and also if she continues to bite it or lick it go to the store go get a rap thing like you use when you sprain your angle or somthing and wrap that around her wet her soar before you put the wrap on ok and it could be a skin infection from her always bitting it or licking it or it could be frome another dog bite or she scraped it and it got infrected and became a soar but i think its a skin rash type thing if it gets better contact me and let me know cuz that should work if it doents go to the vet to see whats wrong

Is it the elbow area? SOme dogs get a dry patch and then lick it until it bleeds. Talk to the vet next time you take her in.

I'm getting a litle tired of saying this but...

...no one on here can POSSIBLY diagnose a condition in an animal without seeing it! We can say it could be flea allergic dermatitis (are you sure she's 100% flea free?), mites, allergies, a wound or a hot spot (localised area of skin infection) but since no one on here can KNOW (and CERTAINLY do not accept treatment advice from anyone on here, they could be anyone!) it's a lot better for your dog, and a lot better time-managment for you if you just TAKE HER TO A VET. It's what they're for - not what Yahoo Answers is here for.

Sorry to yell, I think I need a little rest. But your dog definitely needs to see a vet.

is it around her elbow sort of??

if so then my dog has it too and i'm not sure what it is, but after watching her carefully it seems to be the part of her leg the rubs the floor when she lays down.......
but i am going to ask my vet about it when we go to get her shots tommorrow......
