My Jack Russell mix is showing aggression to my 9 month old. I don't know what else to do except find him a new home. He was my baby before my baby came along. I won't give him to just anyone. They have to be special. Is it weird to go to the person's house and check it out before I give my dog to them? I seriously want a screening process done. Like when youre adopting a child. I'm so sad.

I'm adopting a Pug soon, and I want a cute unique name. Nothing wierd or anything, just not a really common name.

I'm 99% sure I want a black male Pug. Any good name ideas?

i personally am opposed to it because i don't really like how it looks and i don't want to hurt my dog ( I think it's mean)...i have a jrt and i didn't get her tail docked....sure i probably can't win any conformation trials because of it but agility and obedience is our thing ...and i just don't want to hurt her for a "look"....you know what I'm saying? o ...can i have your opinions on tail docking and your reasons why you like it or dislike it

THANKS

Is it illegal? I just came back from Asia and I the LOVED dog meat. They literally had open markets with live dogs. Though I didn't actually buy a raw dog from the markets, I ate some at the restaurant.

Not that I'd actually do it, but I'm just asking.

he doesnt seem to like the noise or the air blowing at him. we just got him from the pound and he is such an awesome oneyear old rottweiler. how else are we suppose to dry such a big dog so he doesnt smell like wet dog.

My english setter eats oranges ! I've never heard of this before and I wonder if anyone else has had a dog that liked fruit . Just curious and slightly concerned about letting him eat them.

In order to get to our front door you have to go through a gate which also leads to our backyard. We usually leave our dog outside when we go to work since its really nice out. Even though our dog is generally friendly, Im concerned that someone might try to get to our front door and for whatever reason, our dog bite may bite them. Are we required to have a sign that warns people there is a dog in the yard? (in CA) or we should we put one up as a coutsey warning?

On dog agility jumps, where can you buy the snap on pvc cups that hold the jump bar up? I could not find them at Home Depot. :o)

A friend of mine has had to put a few pets down over the years. She holds them while the vet administers the drug and stays with each one of them until they are gone. She says that she can't leave them when they need her the most. They are scared and don't know what's happening. She says that comforting them is the least she could do for them after years of being her beloved pets.
I haven't had to put a pet down yet, but I know the time will come. I get teary eyed just thinking about it.
My question to you all is... When it comes time to putting down your beloved pet, have you/will you, be there until the very end??

It's got to be the worst thing about being a responsible pet owner. One of our dogs was put down on Wednesday after two days at the vets for emergency treatment for growths on her liver that were bleeding into her abdomen. She was only 5, and she'd had epilepsy for most of her life too. The only consolation is that she'll not suffer anymore, but isn't it the most awful thing having to make the decision that a much-loved pet should die?

I always thought Purina dog food was a terrible food for dogs, and it is full of grain for fillers, chicken by products, etc. Yet, I see so many people here advising others to feed their dogs Purina. I saw on the internet where someone did a test for various brands of dog foods, and Purina got an F on every one of their foods. Why do so many people feed Purina, if it is that awful.

We have an adorable 10 1/2 week old puppy. He's a big boy -- around 30 (35?) pounds and will eventually grow to around 110 or 115. He's also teething and likes to nip or bite us (his poor owners) although he's quite good with company and strangers. I'm sure it's just a puppy's way of playing, but he's getting big enough that these play bites really hurt. We have consistently told him "no", in increasingly loud voices, with no effect. We've tried pushing the puppy away, and we've tried walking into another room and ignoring the puppy. No effect. Help.

I was given, by the vet, deworming med for both dogs. I was going to start puppy on her med on april 22nd. I started my adult dog this week. When I went to give my adult dog his final pill wrapped in a treat she spit it out, and the puppy swooped in, and ate it. I'm an american living in Germany, so I called the German vet. He said since they are same weight puppy will be okay, and has been fine the past 3 days no vomiting or anything, but should I start her deworming med on the 22nd as planned? I can not understand the german vet very well.
