I don't understand why you would need to blow dry a short haired dog. I've had dalmatians and have always used a couple of towels to dry them after their bath. In any case, you probably just need to get him used to the sound over a few days before you give him a bath. Let him see that the dryer is noisy, but nothing bad happens when it's on. Of course, make sure he doesn't get near the cord. Whatever you do, make sure the blow dryer is not on hot when you are drying him.

What I will usually do with my 80 pound Black Lab is let him shake as much as possible before towel drying and then blow dry for a little bit with Cold air. He doesn't like the sound of the blow dryer but after I blow dry him I will go back to the towel dry and it makes him very happy....that's his favorite

A rottie shouldn't have to be blown dry. He's a short haired breed, and his ears are probably very sensitive to the noise the blowdryer makes. Just get some good absorbent towels and towel him off two or three times, then let him air-dry.
He should be fine.

Blow drying him doesn't make him smell better. "Wet Dog" is just when a dirty dog gets wet and you smell it more. If he doesn't want to be blow dried, let him dry naturally and he will smell them same. I don't dry my poodle and he smells great after a bath. If you lightly towel dry him it will help him air dry much faster. Just don't let him outside until he is dry.

You dont have to blow dry him. Towel him off for a few seconds, let him shake himself a little, and he will dry quickly. I never blow dry my dogs, and the good smell of the shampoo still works!

Towel dry him thoroughly and let him air dry. His hair is short. It won't take long.

Use a different shampoo if he still smells bad after a bath.

You could try, if you haven't already, buying a dryer just for dogs. I bet they make one that is quieter than a human hairdryer. I have seen some commercials for something called a petvac i have no idea if it works but they say it is quiet and wont scare a dog or cat. I hope this answer helped. Good luck :)

same reason my dog doesn't like the vacuum, its the noise that scares him. Towel dry very well and let him air dry, it's what I do.

Good Luck

Either just make him go through it or use a towel. Theres nothing else you could really do. You cant make a dog like something.
