My Jack Russell mix is showing aggression to my 9 month old. I don't know what else to do except find him a new home. He was my baby before my baby came along. I won't give him to just anyone. They have to be special. Is it weird to go to the person's house and check it out before I give my dog to them? I seriously want a screening process done. Like when youre adopting a child. I'm so sad.

You should be picky, there is nothing wrong with that. You can put an ad on Craigslist or in the local paper, but make sure you ask for a lot of money for him, even if you don't really want people to pay to avoid weirdos from calling. let whoever calls know how you feel and that you are being picky about who he goes to live with. I have adopted out a few animals this way and I still keep in contact with the new owners. When you find someone that falls in love with your dog, you won't feel so sad. I promise.

Almost every rescue I know of does a home visit before they place the dog. If you make this known it will not be any different and honestly if it were me I would do the same thing the family that should have the dog would do so anyways. Be aware though that looks can be deceiving.

Good Luck!

Your best call would be to surrender him to a LEGIT rescue group... Since he is showing aggression you dont want to adopt him to someone yourself.. If you get the wrong person they might Euth him if he bit someone.. Or even you being sued... It could get nasty and you dont wanna take your chances.

A Rescue group with work with the dog until he is adoptable. Just make sure you research teh rescue group to make sure they are good. Ask them how many dogs they Euth, ask them under what circumstances they do Euth (A Good one will tell under only if the dogs is extremely ill, with vets blessing, or under EXTREME aggression issues that cannot be fixed, even after consulting a professional).

GOOD LUCK!!

Do it, if they are really the right people to take your dog, they won't mind you going over to make sure that their yard is fenced, that they have a place that would be good for a dog, that they seem like the kind of people you would trust to leave your dog with. If you don't screen them well, so that you are happy with who you choose you will always kick yourself for not finding a better home.

Surrender your dog to a pet rescue. They have a screening process and some require home visits. they have the resources to make sure he is placed in a good home.

Put an ad in the news paper, that way you can see them interact. You can put the ad in the local small paper so it wont cost as much.
