My english setter eats oranges ! I've never heard of this before and I wonder if anyone else has had a dog that liked fruit . Just curious and slightly concerned about letting him eat them.

My dog is completely omnivorous. The latest thing she ate was an alcohol pad while it was still wet. Most dogs cringe if you stick an alcohol pad in their faces. My doggie just eats the pad.

I had a friend that had a pit bull that would eat the oranges off the ground under the tree. I thought it was one of a kind, but I guess I was wrong. I don't think it will do any harm to your dog. Maybe your dog may want to get into organics too. lol.

Sometimes, dogs will get cravings for what might be in food that they wouldn't normally eat, or what they shouldn't be eating. My dog loves cinnamon cookies. I also knew a dog who could sniff out chocolate any time any where. I also went to a friend's party when I was in school(university) where the dog helped himself to the beer in the glasses left on the floor.

Yes my dog eats all kinds of fruit. She loves carrots at the moment...its really odd. Grapes are not poison for dogs!! I don't know where people get that, but the only thing poison to dogs are cocoa and things with cocoa in it, hence the dark chocolate problem.

Yes my uncle's dog (a red setter) ate ANYTHING - even soap. Oranges were definitely one of his favourites. My dalmatian wouldn't touch fruit (sometimes she tries apple) Maybe it is a 'setter' thing?

My mother's daschund used to eat pickles, Doritos, raw potatoes & carrots (she'd dig them up in the garden), and a bunch of other stuff. I wouldn't let him go overboard, but a slice or two of orange shouldn't hurt him. If he starts getting sick when he eats them, then I wouldn't let him have anymore. If they aren't making him sick, then he should be fine. You can always double-check with your vet the next time you take your dog in.

I have a 7 month old lab and she loves fruit and veggies! I think the only thing she dont eat is lettuce and onions! I have wondered if she would choose veggies over a steak!

Yes my dog likes all sorts - he likes oranges, apples and absolutely would sell his soul for banana. Loves cucumber, tomatoes beetroot - I just thought I had a very weird but lovely dog....

He likes grapes too if he can get his paws on them

My old dog liked satsuma segments, apple slices and grapes. He'd throw them around the room to 'kill' them, roll on them, then eat them. It was hilarious to watch. He also like raw carrots. My vet reckoned it wouldn't do him any harm, and he lived to 18.
Dried fruit isn't good for dogs, they contain too much tannin. But a couple of grapes shouldn't hurt. There are sites online that list foods toxic to dogs, you can check those out and put your mind at rest!
