I used to have a female staffy and when she came in season she mounted the other females and even used to squirt during it which i have never seen in all of my years of breeding dogs. she used to stand for the male but as soon as he got in her she would shoot away or try to bite him.

thats a bit of a sensitive question, since the cause of homosexuality in humans cant really be established. One explanation is faulty connections in the brain, whereas a biochemical explanation would be chemical imbalances within the brain. There are many other suggestions, but either of these could easily apply to animals, so its reasonable to assume that animals can be gay too.
Besides, my friends dog has been known to behave similarly!

Yes. They found out not too long ago that Hyenas that they thought were males were actually females with an appendage that wasn't a male part of anatomy. They were even 'doing' other males with it.
My ex ex ex mother-in-law has a chihuahua that dry-humps the five other male dogs all the time. It's strange to see for sure. Why does she do this? She doesn't have anything to do it with.

It's possible- but most likely it is a dominance issue. Since she was mounting the other females, she is the dominant one. She may view it as a dominance thing with the male- it is not the actual act of breeding that annoys her, it is the fact that the male is showing dominance by being on top of her.

Well this is really gross, but I'm going to answer anyway. I don't think that dogs can be gay. I think maybe she got an itch so she decided to rub one out on the other girl dog. Maybe when the male was getting busy with her it hurt her or annoyed her.

Dogs don't have sex for pleasure they have sex only when a female is in season. They also don't pair off and have relationships, so I would say no they can't be gay.

Yesh, I think there are probably such things as gay dogs. It seems to me that all dogs are at least bi, the way male dogs will try to hump other males, and the way they're all always sniffing and licking around each others' butts. I've heard of gay flamingos and gay monkeys, so I'm sure there are gay dogs too.

They say that pets tend to mimic their owners but I really don't think that dogs or any animals can be gay. I think it just depends on who they are around.
