My 3 year old dog has been fat all her life and everytime I eat she begs for food and she puts her chin all over me and the first year we had her she ate everything in my easter basket beside one thing my sister saved. We play and walk her a lot and she has rolls and she went to the vet in august and she was 2 then and weighed 83 pounds and she's 3 now. She is very hyper is their anyway we can make her lose a few pounds or is she supposed to be this way? She is a chcoclate lab. She's about 3 ft. tall from floor to head.

She gets 2 cups of food every day. The cups you drink out of. Those cups.

You're in luck, slimming dogs is my speciality! :-) No animal is supposed to be overweight, it's bad for their health. That thing about 's/he's naturally fat' is garbage, there's ALWAYS a correctable reason for overweight, even if it is a medical condition. Labradors are nearly always hyper and very active, doesn't stop them piling on the pounds!

Labradors are very prone to being overweight - one of the number 1 breeds for it actually. They are known for their ability to eat anything that stays still long enough! I find they don't tend to do well on most commercial dog foods like Bakers, Pedigree Chum - they can get obese even on the small amount you're feeding.

The best thing you can do is change your doggy to a diet food. These are great because they are low in fat and very high in fibre - so your dog can eat quite a decent amount ad still lose weight. This way he won't be so hungry, and you won't have to resist those desperate puppy dog eyes!

May I recommend Hills r/d, the food I'm getting wonderful results with for all my patients. You feed for the weight you want your dog to be - about 55-66 pounds for a female lab. You measure out the food allowance for the day, and then divide it into as many, or as few meals as you like. Regular weighing is also important - animals shouldn't lose weight too rapidly - about 1% of their body weight a week is good (that's about 12 oz a week for your dog)

Here's a link to the Hills website - English, but still relevant, it has great information and advice:

Good luck, please email me any time if you want more advice or support, I love helping owners help their animals lose weight!

don't feed her so much or she may have a weight problem. ask the vet! with the easter basket, did she eat all of the chocolate?! that is not good for her! chocolate is very toxic to dogs and can kill them easily. same with onions, garlic and grapes

Stop giving her all this juke and feed her with moderation i guess it might help. Take your dog for a evening walk or run if possible, this will help her to burn some fats, good luck!
