He is a small dog, advertised as a purebred lhasa. However, we dont think he is, as we have a purebred lhas and he really does not fit the bill.
we got him in December, he is about two years old. He was very lovable and sweet when we got him, but has begun to snap when we pick him up and growl at us.
He snapped at my daughter and hit her so hard in the nose with his mouth that she has a black and blue face.

My little lhasa that we have had since she was three months old is the sweetest dog ever and would never growl at us or bite us or snap at us.

What can we do to control this behavior.
He is very very active and full of life and energy.
If it werent for the problems as described, he would be almost as perfect at the other one.

What suggestions does anyone have for breaking him of this bad behavior

I have a Jack Russell..... OOPS!!!!! Somebody told me these were GOOD dogs.... LOL.... (kidding! I love my doggie!). My parents have nicknamed her the antichrist. And they don't even live with her! Wow! This little demon dog runs around like she's immune to crack, has way too much energy, and thinks she has to chase and destroy anything that is bigger and louder than she is... examples: person..... car..... roman candle...... pitt bull..... thunderstorm..... her personal favorite.... the old man's chopper! Overall she's a good dog.... set aside her self destructive personality..... but my main problem with her is SHE WILL LICK YOU TO DEATH!!!!! This dog will lick you from your scalp to your toenails and she is persistant!!! The only ways I have found to make her quit licking are..... #1: cover yourself from head to toe with a blanket- leave no bare skin showing!!!!! -or- #2: launch her across the room from your lap, the chair, the couch, or the bed you were sharing with her...HELP??

My 4 year old lab constantly will paw at me, my legs, my kids...and it hurts. She does it even after I smack her paw and say "NO". I have been consistent every time she does it and she still hasn't gotten the messege. As soon as you look at her, she will come over and keep putting her paw up on you. She will do it to anyone...and she has been since she was 1 when I taught her how to shake! I have tried may things to stop it but nothing is working. Any dog whisperers out the who can help me solve this annoying compulsion?

I rescued a 2-year-old male Labrador from a shelter. He gets along fine with our other dog, but the cat immediately puffed up and ran, smacking a window on the way. Now whenever kitty makes an appearance, our 70 lb dog is on the chase. It's violent and nasty. Furniture gets knocked over and injuries happen. I don't know what to do, not even the Dog Whisperer's books seem to cover this topic. Help!

I have a large breed (27 inches/ 110lbs) dog with a deep chest. As I am sure people know this increases his risk for bloat. I currently require him to stay lying down while eating, feed 3 smaller meals a day and don't exercise him after eating. Is there anything else I should be doing to avoid bloat?

He has a serious chip on his shoulder and he is pissed at the world. If you yell at him he barks and growls at you if you hit him he bites you if you put him in "time out" he doesn't care.

As a dog lover, I was outraged to read about fur trims on clothing imported from China found to be dog fur, not fake fur. Before trying to change other countries, I look at what is happening in my own town (I'm in the US). Unwanted dogs are being killed in the shelters. Americans are supposed to be good to dogs. But we breed them then kill them. Not for fur, but for the fun of having puppies to play with. Can there ever be a law against breeding dogs without applying for some kind of permit? Why don't more people spay/neuter their dogs? Can we ban puppy mills?

We have her in a crate. She usually wakes us up at 2:30-3:00, then again at 4:30, then again at 5:30. She doesn't need to go out, she just doesn't like being in the crate. We have been trying to ignore her but she barks for hours. Any ideas?

I have a Rottweiler (3 months old) and he gets along well with my chickens. I've read that Rottweilers were used to herd cattle on foot from one place to another (droving). This herding instinct would be useful for moving the chickens from one place to another throughout the day. Later on I might have turkeys, and eventually goats. So a herding dog would be nice. Does anyone know of any sites, books, or other sources that explain how to go about training a dog to herd...more particularly droving? Thanks for any help you can offer.

My dog's breath smells like dead fish and I need to clean her mouth. I know her teeth need to be brushed, but the problem is that her mouth is too small for any of the toothbrushes at the pet stores, including the finger ones. I have read that hard food and some snacks will help keep her teeth and gums clean, but apparently they dont freshen her breath. I feed her science diet dry dog food and the only treats she will eat are rawhide sticks(she wont touch greenies). Neither help. She is a 2 year old yorkie/pom mix that weighs 3lbs and she isnt getting bigger, so this is something that needs to be taken care of...

I am getting desperate! Her breath is horrible. If anyone knows of a place to buy teeny doggie toothbrushes or some awesome techniques to clean her mouth, please share!
