I'm having this dilema as well, but when I was thinking about your question I think I found the answer for both of us.
If your puppy is anything like mine, his favorite thing in the whole world is to spend time with you. So that's what I'm giving my puppy for her birthday. A whole day where everything is revolved around her. A long walk....playing in the park....maybe a puppy birthday cake..lol. Maybe a new rope for tugawar (her favorite game)...but I'm going to give my puppy what she wants the most. My undivided attention ALL DAY LONG!
She may not know it's her birthday...but she'll know it's a special day.

You should take Mickey to PetSmart or PetCo so he can pick out his own toy that he would like. My dogs all love the rawhide chews/ chips. They just chew on them all day, and it gives them something to do. I hope I helped you!!

Ok first of all do not ever give your dog chicken bones. They can kill him. Second give him your attention and some treats. Like a walk doggie treats. a nice day outside with you would be just great. Have a good B-Day.

You don't have to "get" him anything. Dogs love attention and they love to spend time with you. Snuggle under a blanket and watch a movie together, scratch his ears, roll around on the floor with him-play, play, play. Don't give him anything like ice cream if he isn't used to it-There is a dog ice cream on the market called Frosty Paws that is in the ice cream section of the supermarket. You have a bowl of ice cream and he has his Frosty paws he'll think you're sharing your ice cream. Happy Birthday!!

I would say get him a new toy that makes noise cause most dogs love toys with squeakers in them.

Give him some raw beef, that is good for their brains, or take him to a pet store that allows pets and let him find something he wants.

I get my dog a raw, soup bone. He loves them, and will keep him entertained until he disintegrates it.
