its been happening for so long, our organization has been against faux fur coats, which is a lie. Faux fur coats are not fake fur, fake fur is still fur wether its from a rabbit, or a dog. Fur is fur, and its not a bad thing only if the person raising the fur is brutal in the way of raising, breeding, and killing it. Fur is not the enemy the PEOPLE are. We eat meat we kill animals for meat, fur is no diffrent but its the way we treat the animal thats the bad part. 80% of any type of fur raising facility breaks one or multiple laws of abuse or neglect. Thats why fur raisers run there facilities outside of the US jursidictions. The worst is the way they are killed because there can be no damage done to the pelts. This is good that the article is out there. I am glad to see there is something finally being done.
The Racoon Dog, or the name for it is Tanuki, is not truely native to China they were imported for fur and food, they are originally found in the Amur River Valley of Japan. They are not dogs, they are from the candid family like Coyotes, and foxes. They just look and are colored like Racoons. Alot of asian countries eat them as well as use the fur for clothing.

I wish I could get my hands on those people I would skin them alive!! Or how about we just start using them in dog food... that would be an ironic twist wouldnt it?? People who do such things to animals for money or fashion should be executed on sight and furthermore so should the people who support and buy such things.. I dont care who you are you have to be pretty stupid to mistake real fur for fake stuff. Also you have to be devoid of morals if you think it is acceptable to torture animals for any reason.. Nothing gives us the right to inflict such suffering on other beings for nothing more than fashion.

It's going to take a hell of a lot more of a men than me to skin a dog while it is alive and kicking!!!!!!!
AND, I sure pity the poor person that tries!!!!! Always wondered what a person would look like after being bitten from head to toe!!!!!

Are you sure you want to buy into the HSUS-BS

"We have no ethical obligation to preserve the different breeds of livestock produced through selective breeding. ...One generation and out. We have no problems with the extinction of domestic animals. They are creations of human selective breeding" - HSUS VP Wayne Pacelle, Animal People, May, 1993

Yeah, that was terrible. I had never even heard of a racoon dog.
Thanx for the input.
IN RESPONSE TO 'Its me'
Did you even read the whole article. Some of the animals are not even killed humanely before the fur is collected! It's terrible.

Moral of the story? Buy American. Yes you pay more for American goods, but did you notice the references to Finland and Asia? American goods are made under much stricter controls. And it'll be a while before I buy clothes from JC Penney again-crossing out info with a magic marker!
